Okay, here's my question. Who drew the comic strip "Steve Canyon?"

Milt Caniff? (If it wasn't him, it was an artist heavily influenced by him.)

I have a book ( or at least I did 3 or 4 residences ago) about subs that pictured the I- 401 .

Steve Canyon was in our newspaper until we moved after 2nd grade. Maybe a name will float to the surface overnight, but not likely.

You are correct, Roland, your turn to ask a question.

Sorry to keep everyone waiting. I can no longer access this site at the office, so some days I don't make it to HoP.

What mythological deity's nicknames include Eagle Head, Friend of Wealth, Father of Magical Songs, Riddler, Yule Father, Dangler, Yeller, and Wanderer?

No cheating. If no one guesses the right answer, I will give more clues (this god has lots of nicknames!).

Was it Horus?

No correct answer yet. The god's names also include Flashing Eye, Long Beard, God of Burdens, Wand Bearer, Helmet Bearer, Hatter, Father of Victory, and Father of the Slain.

Wotan, or Odin if you prefer. Flashing eye looks like a hint to me. Why just one eye?

Correct!

If no one had gotten it that time I would have resorted to some of his more obvious nicknames, e.g., Allfather, Gallows' Burden, God of Runes, Broad Hat, and . . . One Eyed.

The Roman god Jupiter was sometimes referred to as Jupiter Stator. Stator is usually translated as "the Stayer," but it doesn't mean that he stayed. It means that he made other people stay.

So who did he make stay?

No googling for 24 hours, please, but other research is OK. Hey, you can even ask Jupiter if you like. Good luck finding him!

He stayed the other gods, who would think twice before inviting a thunderbolt by defying their king.
