I've made a visual novel "The Privateer and the Governor's Niece" inspired by Sid Meierer's Pirates. The game has PG and adults only versions; you can select which version to play via an in-game menu.
CAUTION: The Adult version contains sexually explicit scenes.
EDIT: Replaced broken link.
You can find links to download the game at http://the-new-lagoon.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3895
In 1660, the privateer Captain Ted Reynolds is summoned to the palace of the Governor of the Caribbean island of Sint Eustatius (using the Dutch spelling). The Governor wants Captain Reynolds to find his niece, who went missing on a voyage from Bonaire to Sint Eustatius.
Captain Reynolds and his crew will encounter pirates, a beautiful shipwrecked maiden, a sexy female privateer (or is she really a pirate), a reluctant merchant, a playboy governor, and a sinister nobleman.
The adventures you have and the ending you get depend on choices you make.
System requirements: A web browser that is capable of playing HTML 5. This has been tested using Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Internet Explorer 11 on a PC running Windows 7. It was also tested on a MAC system and on a Linux system (Firefox, Opera and Chromium).
Known issues:
1. There are screen size and save/load misalignment issues with Internet Explorer 11. While the game is playable, I recommend you use another browser.
2. On a Linux system using Chrome, you might get a blank black screen. This can be fixed by telling Chrome to allow the game to set local data.
3. Depending on your browser and browser settings, save game information may disappear when you close your browser.
4. It was reported that this won't play using Safari browsers on MAC systems. If you have a MAC I suggest using a different browser
Note: Rapidly clicking to skip dialog may cause the VN to crash, or skip visuals.

I didn't have a lot of time when I tried it but hopefully soon I will try all possible choices. I remember rescuing the governors niece I believe it was from that tiny island. I remember Trinidad I believe it was she played the Captain so we could get our sails fixed. Of course I got me some before I had to go. |

I did play it as well. Is it just me, or was the Governor's Mansion the Grand Staircase from the RMS 'Titanic'? I also could have sworn that the Governor of Trinidad saw his guests in 'Titanic's' smoking room....
Other than that, nothing really broke immersion. Nice game. _________________ The Code is the Law. |

You have sharp eyes, Captain. Yes, the backgrounds in those scenes are DAZ models of the staircase and smoking room. |

Thanks for letting me know. I thought I'd replaced all the links that pointed there, but I was wrong. Anyway, I've placed a new working link in the first post and posted it here.

None of the links at visual novelty are currently visible. While the site is still up, I can't edit my posts or make a new post, and the site admin seems to have disappeared. |
