Update: I found a "data.dmg" file in the Mac OS files and opened it. It opened a "data" folder that contains "custom", "Buried Mac Treasure", and "Assets." Very promising.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this site but I am so happy I found it. I'm reaching out because I currently have the Mac OS version of Pirates! and I would like to put mods on the Mac version. I searched through the forums for a similar question and could find none. Does anyone know if I can even get the mods to work on Mac? I would really like to enhance the classic experience. Thank you. Smile

Hello, and welcome to hooked on pirates. I own the PC version. For mods to work on it, the mod must be placed in the 'custom' folder.
It might work on the MAC version.

So far the mac is not showing any sign of the mods working when I place them into the "custom" folder. I will continue to investigate.

Which mods are you using? What are the file names?

Sorry I disappeared!

I only tried basic mods likes "eyepatch" and "black_start." I tried rearranging but it did not work. The game has the proper folders, but I just can't seem to get them to work.

Does the eyepatch mod consist of an fpk file?

Yes! Sorry, the mods do have .fpk files with the respective names "eyepatch.fpk" and "black_start.fpk"

Try unpacking them and placing the dds. files in the custom folders. Worth a shot since I don't know what the Mac game uses or doesn't use. I mean it could be they don't use fpk packs. I don't know.

when I first got here jlangsdo, dog cigar, etc were all Mac users. If I remember correctly everything is the same just actual folder and memory locations differ between the mac and PC. As mentioned above unpack the fpk files and put them in the custom folder. I always unpack the files including the 10 packs that come in the assets folder. Here's the link: https://forums.civfanatics.com/resources/pakbuild.2384/. This is for a PC version tho. The Mac version is here; https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/mac-extractor-for-assets-fpk-files.273561/

Update: the macapaka application will not open. The icon appears on my dashboard, but no screen or anything pops up.
