Well, I don't know but I'm guessing that it was an early jet plane. _________________ " ... the mistakes that we male and female mortals make when we have our own way might fairly raise some wonder that we are so fond of it. " George Eliot |

Yes, it was a twin engine jet fighter. It obviously arrived too late, and too few to save Germany. I saw one in the museum in Munich. |

Which European country in the second world war first fought against both sides.
Edit: There are more than one possible answer. I'll accept any. _________________ " ... the mistakes that we male and female mortals make when we have our own way might fairly raise some wonder that we are so fond of it. " George Eliot |

I believe Finland bought a lot of weapons, aircraft, etc from Germany because of the Soviet Union but never was punished at the wars end due to the fact they had a great reason to be friendly with Germany since the Soviets tried to take them over before Germany invaded the Soviet Union. I know Poland was the first country the Germans invaded and took control of so they were under German control during the war meaning they couldn’t switch sides since they belonged to the Germans. |

I don't think Poland counts. The fought the Russians, but Russia and Germany were on the same side at that time. They even had a joint victory celebration after they partitioned Poland. So Poland did not fight against both sides.
Finland counts. They had two armed conflicts against the Soviet Union and one against Germany.
I would have accepted France, since Vichy troops fought against the Allies, and the Vichy government was the closest France had to a legitimate government at that time. I would have even accepted Switzerland, since they fired on anyone who violated their airspace.

Well i'm not certain how i got the last one right and certainty I would not have considered France since they would have been an ally nation had not the Germans taken them over like it was nothing. I always felt had Germany left Russia alone for awhile and concentrated on Britain all the way they would have fared better. Of course the Japanese dragging the Americans into it didn't help them either. Anyway next question and no looking t up at least for a little while. What was the Luftwaffe? |

You got it and since this is a place more for ships rather than planes I will point out that the German navy was called Kriegsmarine during this time frame. Your turn Fleeter. |

The big answer to this question if the Soviet Union. They started fighting with Hitler when it came to taking over Poland. Then after that, Germany invaded the Soviet Union trying to take it over and before the war ended, over 20 million people were killed. There was more land action in the Eastern Front than in the Western Front. |

Imperial German Navy. Sounds more realistic to me to say Imperial Japanese Navy than German but anyway that is what they called themselves. |
