Yes also he is one of the players whose reputation took a little nose dive due to steroids but MLB wasn’t testing it’s players so that’s why they did it.

I did a search. Cy Young is the pitcher with the most career games lost. He is also the one with the most wins.

Reggie Jackson comes to mind.

Those records set by Cy Young (wins and losses) will NEVER be broken. They are completely untouchable. They are the safest records in baseball and probably all of sports. The game has changed a LOT since he pitched. Back in his day there were very few relief pitchers, Cy Young would pitch every 4th day and had maybe 50 starts a year. He was expected to pitch the entire game and usually did. He stayed in if his team was winning or losing. He did not throw as hard as pitchers do now and could take it easy if no one was in scoring position since there were very few home runs hit back before Babe Ruth showed up.
