I'll guess Brigadier General (or whatever the lowest general rank was at the time).

Your answer is correct, Roland, so it's your turn to ask the next question.

Before the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers moved to California in 1978, where were they located and what were they called?

I don;t follow professional basketball, so I did a search.
From what I read, the Clippers were the Buffalo Braves before moving to San Diego in 1978. In 1984 the moved from San Diego to Los Angeles.

Next question. In major league baseball's American League, who was named the Most Valuable Player for 2019?

2019 will be announced in November 2019. I think you mean the year 2018. I was on a cruise when it happened so I did not hear it but before I left the two main contenders were J.D Martinez and Mookie Betts, both of the World-Series winning Boston Red Sox. I will go with Mookie Betts. He had a wonderful year and was the sparkplug of this championship team.

Salty,
You are correct in that I meant 2018, and your answer of Mookie Betts is correct. He was selected as the American League MVP.
It's your turn.

On this date in 1732, Russia signed a treaty. On this date in 1793, Russia signed another treaty. Name the other signatory of either treaty.

A reasonable guess, but neither treaty was with the Ottomans.

In the earlier treaty, Russia returned territory it had captured from a rival in exchange for trade access. In the later treaty, Russia and another power conspired against a third country.
