I'm just interested, will the Pirates! signup for the beta site be similar to the site that was created for people who wanted to test Conquests (one year ago)?

Hi civrules,

Probably very similar, except that it will not be linked from any publicly viewable pages -- you will need to follow the link from the Avast! newsletter, and then we'll do a quick check to make sure that selected names are on the subscription list.

Best,

Sorry, I think I have been misinterpreted. August the 4th was the date that he said It'd be out soon, there was no date mentioned. Apologies!

So as far as can be assitained from what he said in that article, it will not be out intill next week? Seems ok, but the fact is, since august 1st I have been checking my inbox almost hourly for that email...

Thanks Civrules. I think I can wait until then. My email is automatically checked for me every 15 minutes, Razz although it still could come while I'm asleep or at school... AHHH!! That would be painful. I *could* be a beta tester and not know it for a whole 8 hours!! Anyway... I wonder what percentage of Avast! subscribers will be beta testers, and how many there will be altogether. I've never been involved in anything like this, can anyone give me estimates as to how many people generally do beta tests, or is it completely variable, the developer makes a decision based on how thorougly he wants it tested?

Haha, well, I think we all have this habit to check our emails every so often. Very Happy

But as for the beta, last year, for C3C, it was a huge beta test. They got around 300+ people which tested the game for about three months or so. In the end, only about 60 people or so completed the beta successfully. Some of the chosen beta testers never even posted, some were involved for only some of the time and then quit (due to RL situations, work, family, etc.).
I think the number of beta testers they choose includes the time they have and also if it is a larger project. Well, as for Pirates! you already know that the time we will have as beta testers will not be nearly as much as three months. It will be far less than that. They might also choose to pick many people for the beta, or a few. This I don’t know. But you can be sure that it IS a large project. Smile
So, like you, I have not an idea of how much people they will choose.

I hope they pick the people most envolved, because they have the most hart for the game.Surely the people who have a fansite. In someway it would be a thank you-expression from the makers. If you think about it fansites makes the game more popular.

Well, yes, there is obviously an advantage of doing so I’d assume. Smile
