Welcome to the forum deebopuh. There's no way anyone can remember that particular map. Every map is different and random. The landmarks, geysers, dead trees, temples, totem poles, arch rocks, stone heads and deserted cabins are randomly placed when every map gets generated. Sail along the coast north of Vera Cruz until you find a rock in the water, land there and start your search. Check here for more. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

The area around the Rio Grande is one popular location for lost cities that are north of Vera Cruz. But it could be anywhere that is inland from a named rock on the coastline.

In Those situations, I save the game.

Go for a long stroll untill I find the city - and find a visible named landmark that it was near.

Re-Load my saved game - and head for the landmark - then the city.

Then go for Battle Duelling then Victory.

Welcome to Cutlass Isle, deebopuh!

In the thread that loki59 indicates, you will read a previous reference of mine, about landmarks. When you can't go through a landmark, you are near treasure or another important find.

You may indeed have to wander up and down a stretch of land for a while. Like mowing a lawn, only slightly overlapping where you have already cut the grass, to make sure you don't miss anything.

Search systematically, and check your Caribbean Map- if you zoom in all the way, you will be at the center, no matter where your ships are shown to be anchored.

After wandering about (for what seemed like forty years) in the wilderness of the Yucatan Peninsula for a while, I decided to search from East to West, then West to East, going North from Vera Cruz. Eventually I (literally) walked in to the landmarks I sought, and found the Lost City- now only the Hard to Find But Now Found City!

Some landmarks are extras, so don't be confused if they appear on your treasure map. Bring lots of food, have a crew in good morale and size- some 300 men to take on Monty's native allies- and good hunting!

This only applies to those geysers and dead trees that are marked on the map. You can never walk through a totem pole, deserted cabin, arch rock, stone head or Inca temple whether it's marked on the map or not.

I got this map for Kidd's treasure.

I sailed over to north of Vera Cruz, went ashore and walked through two different groups of dead trees and two geysers. Then sailed over to Cartegena, went ashore and walked through dead trees and geysers. Repeated this at Puerto Cabello and Trinidad walking through dead trees and geysers. Went to find Kidd's treasure, walked north a ways till I found this geyser, to far north to be on the map, and walked through it.

Found the treasure and the geyser marked on the map and couldn't walk through it. I can never walk through any of the other landmarks at any time.

Maybe it's different on other versions (mine is ver. 1.02). What happens with your version when you go to a different location from the map?

Well, that's odd, loki; perhaps I haven't attempted to walk through enough of the other landmarks to know otherwise...if I am wrong, then I sail corrected.

But I think I know why I have thought so. An inland map likely has no clues where to land your ship. Geysers are an important landmark for me, because you can hear them as you approach them. So perhaps an important key in my treasure-finding is based on tracking geysers- and being unable to go through them- as a reference point...

And if they don't exist, I go for the trees...and if they don't exist, then I see what landmarks may be authentically arranged in the treasure's area...as usual.

Plus the fact that you can see them when they spout (without the telescope) a fair distance away, days worth of walking distance.
