Get a waterproof one Smile They feel gross to use - and not as responsive - but do not care about the spills.

As clumsy as I am, I keep my drinks away from the computer. I do just fine spilling (chip)crumbs all over it... Laughing

Poor computer...

I thought the fleet speed was determined by the slowest ship...

So the war canoe still helps you as a flagship because it tacks better into the wind?

Fleet speed is determined by the speed of your flagship, adjusted downwards according to the number of vessels in your fleet. It doesn't matter whether those additional vessels are war canoes or fluyts - the only thing that matters is how many of them you have. (Specifically, every even-numbered ship you add to your fleet slows you down - 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th.)

Since a war canoe is the fastest, most maneuverable type of vessel in the game, you can always speed up your fleet by making a war canoe your flagship (especially with cotton sails). And before a long voyage it is a good idea to ditch ships you don't need since they'll slow you down.

Thanks for your useful explanation, Captain Roland!
I would never have dreamed it worked that way.

Since I got this Awesome information - I use a War Canoe to drag my fleet around - it really helps speed the travel up...

I'm not sure it is that simple. Lots of times I've seen my flag ship delayed, because one of my ships says "Wait for me!" When it catches up, my flag ship speeds up again, only to be delayed by the same laggard. For long voyages, I would definitely consider ditching the chronic cry baby.

Another factor is ship damage. Any damaged ship, whether your flagship or a follower, will reduce the fleet's maximum speed.

Yeah, the damaged ship slowing the fleet is an obvious factor.

I guess that's why you guys don't like chain shot.

Lately I've had the sea shanties from Assassin's Creed 4 playing in a playlist in the background. That's how real sailors passed the time! Buddies
