If I attack the enemy and he does a counterattack, is it possible to block or dodge the counterattack, or is it guaranteed to hit me? I think I might have once avoided it by stopping my attack, but I'm not sure...

What's this " . . . parry riposte nonsense? ATTACK FIRST!! Even the Marquis can be defeated with the point in line liberally applied. Wink

That's what I was talking about. :-P If I attack (first), and the enemy blocks/dodges my attack and counterattacks, can I then block/dodge their counterattack?

I assumed you were talking about a normal attack following a duck/jump/block. I don't think there is anything special about these attacks. I am usually on the opposite side of the exchange - I rarely attack without first ducking, jumping, or blocking. My counter-attacks are sometimes parried by a fast opponent (e.g., the English captain of the guard). I'm pretty sure that works both ways.

If you were talking about the special counter-attacks - the ones where you time your jump/duck perfectly, do an acrobatic maneuver, and counter-attack automatically - those cannot be blocked.

I think I was referring to the special counterattacks, but I'm not sure anymore. :-) In any case, thanks for the info!

Always wear your best cuirrass to a sword fight! Get one A.S.A.P. Have your perfectly balanced sword on your left hip. Don't wait. Thrust. Thrust. Thrust. This ain't choir practice. Duelling
