I love Gran Granada, it always reminds me of my first feeble steps with Pirates!, when i walked about in the deep forests looking for Lost Cities that were other places completely, or didn't exist (pre-patch).

Also, it has a kind of Lost City/El Dorado/Conquistadoric feel about it, it's epic how you walk for several days/weeks before it finally manifests itself through the forest, nice change of pace Retired in Panama

I was reading the Ship of the Line strategy guide Reading , and remembering this section-

"Keep in mind that marrying a girl in St. Eustatius or Nevis or Martinique is pretty damn silly. Your best reward for marrying a Beautiful Daughter is that she can provide you with all the Lost City maps you'll need, but after finding each city you will have to visit your wife again for more map pieces. Since all Lost Cities are in Mexico and Central America, having to sail all the way east after finding each treasure will make your time run out like a chicken on fire. Your first priority once you've acquired a SOL would probably be to sell all your other ships and make your way, as soon as possible, to Puerto Bello. You should enter, in this order or otherwise, Santa Marta, Cartagena, Nombre de Dios, Puerto Bello, Santa Catalina (if it exists), Port Royale (if exists), Havana, and Florida Keys. If you can't enter one, consider sneaking in, or even capturing it. What you're looking for is a potential marriage with a beautiful daughter. Since these cities are close to Central America, sailing between your wife and the lost cities will take much less time. Once you've located and begun courting your new wife, take the time to visit Campeche, Veracruz, and Villahermosa. You need to conquer all of them, and pass them from Spanish rule to another nation. This will prevent the Evil Spaniards from spawning so far to the west. If you're partial to the Spanish, you'll need to appease them later by sinking enemy ships or visiting a nearby monastery to get an Amnesty escort mission. It may also be advisable to take St. Augustine for the same reason. Sometimes you can't get them all, but getting a few helps alot. Also remember that while sailing up the coast of Central America you will probably run into several Named Pirates, and this would be a good chance to take them out. If you happen to know the location of Montalban's hideout - so much the better. Assault his hidden fortress as quickly as possible, as the 100,000 gold reward is very very important to you."
***************************************

I decided to forget about returning the beautiful daughter I had aboard my ship who lived in Antigua, and instead of going back there, start something with the beautiful redheaded daughter in the turquoise dress , who lived in the Prosperous capital of Santa Marta.

I think Santa Marta is my new favorite home port!

Villain in Santiago? Head due north. Cartegena and Puerto Bello are just a quick swoop down. The treasure fleets pass by my front door! Montalban's hideout and the lost cities are convenient for the first time. Victorious [/i]

I can think of many reasons to like Havana!

It's the chief city of the northwestern quadrant, so it makes a good base of operations when you are trading in the Bahamas. This is enhanced by the usually favorable price structure - high prices for sugar and spices, low prices for goods and luxuries. When Florida Keys is wealthy, it tends to have the opposite price structure, which makes for good arbitrage opportunities.

Havana is also the closest civilized city to the Gulf of Mexico, so it's a good place to prepare for the long voyage to Vera Cruz and to sell your booty when you return.

There always seems to be a lot of action in the corridor between Havana and Florida Keys. If the French and Spanish aren't at war, there are always pirates and Indians to fight off. Good opportunities for a privateer looking to enhance his social and economic standing!

Tortuga not to forget;)

There is just something about Tortuga. The way it rolls of the tongue. It is just a fun word to say and every time I hear it I think of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean, Hector Barbossa.

Coro, and St. Augustine are the ones I visit. Augustine is the city I look after, If someone messes with it they're toast. Shocked

I'm usually in Curacao; the only non-Spanish city on the Main. I then raid pillage and plunder those hapless galleons and sell the booty in Curacao. And for some reason, more often than not, the daughter is beautiful, so it's all right there.

I too like to operate out of Curacao. It's a great place to plunder Spain from.
My favorite ending to the game is to capture Havana and then retire there.

EXACTLY!! Tortuga sounds like a mystery, written in flames on a ship's deck, if you know what I mean;) Damn, I can't believe that I'm so brainwashed by Disney;)

Key West (d.b.a. here as Florida Keys) A small drinking town with a serious fishing problem. Where the party never ends. The Ultimate Spring Break destination. Went there, did that, still have the t-shirts ('73, '74 & '75). Any questions?

Sloppy Joe's has the coolest T-Shirts! I wore mine until it was torn to bits. This past Dec I asked the wife to grab one while I was ordering a drink. Unfortunately, she got me a tank top, which I do NOT like! Oh well, I can always order one online......
