Me least favorite is of course the Cutlass...Well I've seen some lads get it right, I just prefer the rush of combat that the Cutlass just doesn't seem to give. Though I pull her out if me crew is low and I'm on a high difficulty against say a...Pirate Hunter or a Named. Otherwise she stays in the box, doing nothing but rusting under the sun...

While the cutlass is my favorite weapon, I would not use it when my crew is low. Using the cutlass requires patience. When my crew is low, I want to end the combat as quickly as possible.

it's funny how in the original game I always used a Longsword... I liked the way the difference in the swords worked in the original:

Rapier: Long reach, low damage
Longsword: Medium reach, medium damage
Cutlass: Short reach, high damage

I agree with you Kristian95 , 100%. In Pirates and again in Pirates Gold, I used the Longsword almost exclusively.

In the current Adventure, I'm rarely in a Knife Fight with anything other than my trusty Rapier.

Shocked only 28 more seconds until you make it all the way into Swashbuckler levels.

Translation - Tis easy to move up.

I use the rapier AND the other two swords if I'm feeling lucky that day. But me main weapon be the rapier. Plus with my current character, Xzar (pronounced Zar) is in failing health and he is quite slow with his swingin arm.

I did post in favor of the rapier some time ago, but I'm growing fond of the cutlass. It's a good sword to use for defense, and then, counterattack. The duels seem to take a bit longer; but, my character is getting older, and he needs to be sneaky to beat the enemies that used to be old men, and are spring chickens now...

I've beaten the game 3 times, and I've found my favorite to be the cutlass. Defend and counterattack the day away! Plus when I want to trim some crew, it's the best weapon to maintain the match much longer.

Use all of the swords, mateys, and become proficient with each of 'em. That way, you can always win the battle!

I still prefer the rapier, after all. I usually wait for my opponent to launch an attack and I counter. With a quick attack, I can't lose!

Rapier, of course! I have used all three at one time or the other but I prefer the rapier because it is quick and light. I have fought as many as 4 to 1 or 5 to 1 odds with no problems using the rapier.

At the moment I love the cutlass. If I want to play in Swash I can only use that to fence for anything, and in the lower levels, it's just my favorite either way.

I use the rapier for it's great attack, and it's not THAT bad at defence, either.

Aye, it is a good sword, in some situations it is the best sword; yet on Rogue and Swash, taking on the English Captain of the Guard requires another weapon- at least for me...

Know what swords are best when you can plan ahead, and victory is a step closer.

Welcome to Cutlass Isle, Grate pirate!

I gather you think the rapier is a Grate weapon for a Grate pirate? Aye, It is indeed the case, and Grateful indeed am I, too, for such a weapon...

I agree, using the rapier speeds up fights, and saves crew. If you want to get a few of them killed off, fighting with a cutlass saves you from having to downsize the crew yourself.
