What happened to artillery units? I thought that they exist only at schwashbuckler level, but i still did not see it. Is it removed from the game?

Rupert posted something about it some time ago if I'm not mistaken. They were in Beta it seems, but they removed artillery from the game. They are still in the Pak files somewhere I think, but are left unused. |

I would love to see what impact such units would have on the whole land attack scenario _________________ HaP! Real Pirates hang out there! |

Yeah in Beta there was and there was suppsoed to be something about bringing them with you if you had extra cannons on your ships.... So much for that great idea. Maybe made it to hard to control how quick the win was with them in the game for either side. Hmmm! I want my artillary. |

The graphic and "Animation" files still included in game. |

Probably, but it would be a bit unbalanced. After capturing a war galleon or two, I end up with eighty cannons on my ship or something. Why bother with taking the town, when I could obviously just LEVEL it? _________________

True, but it would be a pain to have to sift through all that rubble looking for the gold you'd get by capturing it. _________________ TheDon

Just so that you know.
The artillery was available to the nations, not to you. |

Whoa. Wait a minute. We might want to rethink this. But if they can have artillery, why can't we? Not the same as Calvary. That I can see. _________________ TheDon

I think that the pirates should have artillery, but the nations shouldn't. They have cavalry already. Maybe if the city has enough soldiers to have a fort, the fort should be able to fire a round at you during battle.
If the pirates get artillery, I think that when it's fired, it should move back one space from recoil, then have to be pushed back to the previous position before it can fire again. It should also be fairly inaccurate.
I suppose the nations COULD have artillery, but only in capital cities, etc...The government wouldn't trust their colonies enough to let them have cannons that they could rebel with, methinks. _________________

Since pirates usually rowed ashore, puting artillary pieces in your dinghy was...a bit dingey. _________________
