I've played for years the first version of Pirates! (MS-DOS) and now
that I've bought the new edition I'm completly hooked. Sailor

I've had a few times a map with no Red Cross on I've just downloaded
the Patch 1.0.2 that hopefully should solve this bug. Razz

Nevertheless, appart from the dancing part (I don't appreciate it at ALL)
this is one of the Greatest Games Of All Times for me.

By the way, my apologies for any English mistakes, nobody is perfect :

Here's one of the dreaded "where the **** is this supposed to be?" maps:

Following my own advice, I sailed east from Villa Hermosa until I found a "coastal landmark":

Unfortunately, every time I tried to sail into the "lagoon" with Cutlass Head I wound up entering either New Aberdeen or the pirate haven of Red Jacq's Roost (hidden by the "The new governor..." message). So I wound up coming ashore east of Cataluna Del Este, at the base of that peninsula, and striking inland from there.

Possibly because I was coming at it from a skewed angle, it took me a while to find the treasure: the first geyser I found had an Inca temple to the southwest, but the temple had a totem pole to its southwest, only from there I found a geyser to the west... which turned out to be the one on the map and led me to my goal.

Sometimes you've just gotta keep pluggin' away. Very Happy

Can't say thank you enough. I was looking for a Lost City to the "Northwest of Gran Granada." Got frustrated and turned the game off for a bit. Then I had the idea to look here and see if anyone else had similar problems. Low and behold the first post I looked at (this one) lead me straight to it. Moved over to the Lost Lake area and walked right to it. When I found it, it was more than worth the trouble with the gold I found. Thanks again!!

Finally remembered to get a screen shot of Montalban's hideout for those who may not be familiar with it. Essentially, it's a walled town with an Indian village next to it (you can mistake it for a settlement from a distance).

To start the action, move your party into the town.

It's great that you have this topic because yesterday, I finaly got the map of my long last grandfather the map stated "look South East of CumanÃƒÂ¡. Rolling Eyes

Well the usual water hot springs and domes etc are there ,but, no shoreline to reference any rock . Just South East of CumanÃƒÂ¡. I wasted a lot of time going back and forth there are loads of water hotsprings and domes and stone skulls but no shack like the one i found the rest in . Rolling Eyes

Here's a question. What of those poor souls who used to live in that hideout? I mean, there's lots of houses, and an Indian Village too... What are they going to do now that Monty is my cabin boy, and no longer administrating the city?

I guess they will keep attacking settlements until one day some one comes up with the idea of "Human Rights" The Indians will get their share . Not what they deserve but, better than nothing. I guess one does not choose to whom or what nation he is born. One can only choose to better one's life if given the chance. Those days theworld was greedy and felt no guilt for taking what was not theirs.
In the games I never attack indian canoes or settlements.
i did it once to a canoe just to check for speed and firepower.
Yes, I use them to raid cities and settlements so that I can follow and take the rest . Wink

I had an interesing little twist:

Lost city north of Vera Cruz, visible shoreline and a landmark (Blood Point), I think I sailed that long coastline 5 or 6 times, I then started making a few random landings before finally spotting Blood Point by directly sailing into the rock. The rocks were placed right on the shoreline with trees on top, so it was hardly visible and the naming text was also almost hidden among the trees.

So always keep a sharp eye....
