Its time for my second voyage to take place... Basicly, if you want to comment on the story or somthng like that, just post in this thread. Otherwise, feel free to PM me. So far, there are 38 chapters in this tale, with more than a few twists and turns. So enjoy this story, I'll post at least one chapter per day, usually more. If I don't it just meant I am being lazy or am doing an assessment for Uni...

I have posted two chapters today, since they are the ones that are completed

Chapter I; Plans Made
Cutlass Isle…

I sat in the bar, drinking away, the storm had passed by, as my thoughts turned to my sister. I knew where she was, I just had no idea how to get her. I sighed as I took a swig from my bottle of Mead.
'Looking a bit lonely, Captain?' a familiar voice said from behind me
'Just thinking about some stuff, Jones,' I replied to my former Quartermaster
'Why don't you tell us what's on your mind?'
'I am thinking about a way to get my sister back…'
'Oh? Is she not locked away in Panama? So you are thinking about how you are going to get in there?'
'Basically, do you have any ideas?'
"I have two, surprisingly.'
'Ok, lay them on us.'
'This is my first plan. Get together a large number of different pirates, creating a massive Pirate fleet, and sack Panama. There are a number of problems with this plan, though. First, it would be impossible to keep such a large fleet a secret from the Spanish, secondly, with a large number of personalities, it will be rather difficult to keep the fleet in line, and to keep loyalties on our side,'
'Yes, I see that this plan has some flaws, what else?'
'The second plan is far more risky. The Governor of San Juan owes you, does he not?'
'Well, yes, Governor Telzaro owes us big time for falsely imprisoning us, and us helping to get back his daughter'
'Indeed he does. Now we ask him to provide you with a fake identity, in which you will sneak into Panama, snatch your sister from under the governors nose, and then sail back to Cutlass Island, without anyone knowing that the Ryokuryuukai had anything to do with it. To make our cover story solid, Sai will take command of the fleet, and sail north to plunder the vessels near Providence, while you and I sneak into Panama. He returns a month later to pick us back, and we go sailing home.'
'Its very risky, and it seems to have a lot of variables in it… as well as that, the reward is not as spectacular as one may think… you first plan seems a lot safer, I mean, if we tell our men we are going to Panama, they will expect a ton of gold and silver. But if we say we are just going buccaneering along the Columbian coast, they will not suspect a thing. Of course, we must tell Sai of our plan… I replied, 'Do you know where Sai is, anyway?'
'I think he is training on the hill overlooking town,' replied Jones
'Very well, I'll go chat to Sai, while I'll charge you with getting together the crew and supplies. The Ryokuryuukai will sail again.'
'Indeed it will,' replied Jones as I left the tavern, and made my way through town. Climbing the hill, I could see Sai swinging his sword in a vertical motion, repetitively. He saw me approach, sheathed his sword, and asked me my business
'Sai, would you like to come on another voyage to make the Ryokuryuukai great?' I asked him
'Where shall we go?' he replied.
'We are conducting a Secret Mission to Panama to rescue my sister. We need you to act as the diversion, while me and Jones sneak into Panama, you and the rest of the Crew shall go north and plunder near the English town of Providence. Then you simply come back, pick us up, and we return here. Simple enough?'
'It is said that the stars prophesies that it be a bad time to set sail, however, if it is my captain's wish, I shall go,' replied Sai
'That’s the spirit! Let us return to the Tavern and see what sort of crew Jones has prepared for us,' I said, walking down the hill, Sai following me.

There were many old faces in my crew, many new ones at that too, as I stood on the deck of my sloop, watching the men load the food on deck, enough food to get us at least to the mainland… we wanted to travel light so we could fill our holds with gold and other goods from Dutch and English vessels. I had made up my mind to keep the French on side, along with the Spanish, besides, the might of Spain had been falling since the demise of its mighty Amada, and the might of the commercial states of Holland and England were rising… so was the revenue gained from plundering their ships. I gave my crew a speech, telling them that we were simply off to the Columbian Coast, and that there would be little danger for such high rewards. We set off that night, our first destination San Juan

Chapter II A favour
San Juan

My vessel sailed into the port of San Juan, where I was met by a group of guards, who offered to escort me to the Governors Mansion, and I took the offer up, while I unleashed my men onto the city's taverns.

'My dear Mr di Rossi, we are at war with the English and the Dutch. Would you like to purchase a Spanish Letter of Marque for 800 gold?'
'No, not this time. I am actually here to call in a favour you owe me for helping rescue your daughter,' I replied
The smile left the governors face, 'What sort of Favour are you after?'
'I need a false identity to sneak into Panama.'
'Defiantly not! You'll plunder the city dry if I let you have that!'
'I say on my honour and the honour of the Ryokuryuukai, that I would never do such a low and cowardly act on a Spanish Possession. I have received word that my sister is in the employ of the Governor, and I just want it to snatch her back'
'If that is the case, I will allow it, with conditions attached. Firstly, there is to be a zero body count, not a single fatality, do you understand?'
'Yes, I do'
'Secondly, your true identity must not be found out, do you understand?'
' Yes, I do'
'Finally, no one must know of my involvement in this. Failure to comply with these conditions will result in my forces pummelling you to the ground, do you understand?'
'Yes, your Excellency…'
'Very well, come back in the morning, and I would have prepared the relevant documentation.'
'Anyway, how's Sophia?' I asked
'She has calmed down quite a lot, now that she has found a fiancee,' he replied.
'You'll have to invite me to the wedding,' I said before saying my farewells, and retreating back to the tavern.

As I sat there, I scanned the people in this bar, every now and again taking a sip from my mead. I saw a face I recognised, I can not remember from where, perhaps my old crew, or maybe from St Marten? But I knew he was looking in my direction. I stood up and approached the man, who, in a state of shock, quickly got up and left the tavern, running. I drew my cutlass to give chase, but the strange man lost me after a few turns. I sighed, and resheathed my sword, and began to return to the tavern, when an old lady, hobbled in front of me, falling down. I caught her and she thanked me, 'Thank you for helping me there, I must repay you somehow… perhaps I should tell your fortune'
'Why not. Can you tell me if I'll get my sister back?'
She thought about this for a moment, and replied, 'Yes, but you should not be worrying about your sister in times like these or bigger troubles will engulf you…'
'What bigger troubles?' I asked, my voice strained
'I cannot tell you, since I have already granted your wish, but I can tell you this, you will meet an old acquaintance, you will get a new ship too. Your unlucky colour is Green, but your lucky colour is Yellow. Farewell, young Marco, we shall meet again'
Before I could say anything else, the old lady disappeared into the darkness.
Confused by this strange turn of events, I wandered back to the tavern where I got a room for the night, but I could not sleep, what that old fortune teller said before was going through my head… as well as this, something shocking that I had heard entered my mind; ''It is said that the stars prophesies that it be a bad time to set sail…' then, something even weirder popped into my head, how did she know my first name?
I forced my self to get to sleep, telling myself that this fortune telling was all hocus pocus sorcery… but something in my mind told me that things would not go to plan on this trip…

I awoke fresh in the morning, forgetting about the events of the previous night, and made my way to the Governors house, where he presented me with papers naming me Count Juan da Vega. I thanked him for this, and left the port, sailing south for the American Mainland.

Chapter III; The Voyage South
En Route to Margareta

'Sail Ho' yelled the lookout. It was Sai's turn to be on watch, as I slept below deck. As I heard this, I pulled my pillow over my head. Since Leaving San Juan, we had plundered no less than ten Ships. The Novelty had warn off, and the Governors of the English and Dutch towns were starting to send out Pirate Hunters. I could not handle that, let me tell you, The crew was battered, and we had lost a number of men. Sure, we could take on the odd merchantman, however, anything bigger would cost us. I ordered the Ship to stop its buccaneering and make for the Spanish coasts, still many days to the south.
'She's a Frigate! Go wake the Captain!'
Moaning, I pulled myself out of bed, a Frigate was something that I had to deal with. Sai would most properly go after it directly, that was the kind of person he was, Jones would have avoided detection completely, by sticking to the coast, hence us getting no plunder. They were complete opposites, Sai and Jones, but together, they were gold. I picked up my cutlass and made my way to deck.
'What colours are they flying?' I asked the lookout.
'Um, it seems to be French. Should we close in for battle, or flee?'
'There is another option, Hail for news, I want to see what they are doing in a place like this, perhaps we can use it to our advantage.'
As I finished the sentence, the flag indicating a hail was raised to the mast, and we waited.
'They have raised a similar flag, Captain, shall we approach?'
'Yeah. Sai, get the men to Stand down, there will be no battle.'
Our Sloop drew beside the mighty Frigate, and the crew of the vessel threw down a ladder. I climbed it to be welcomed by an old gentleman, dressed in rather extravagant clothes, 'Welcome, young sailor,' he replied, 'For what matter have you hailed us?'
'We have hailed you for news of the ocean.'
'News? Well, I have recently heard that the local war of Jealousy between the Marquis Telzaro of San Juan and the Duke of Rotterdam, former Governor of St Marten has exploded into full scale back in Europe. The Telzaro's have significant political clout in the Spanish throne, and the Duke of Rotterdam is one of the most important individuals in Holland… Oh yes, and I am on my way to Santiago to hand over these documents of Alliance, we feel that we must ally against the English, us Catholics must stay together!' the old gentleman said, 'Oh, and what's your name?'
'I am di Rossi, a simple captain on his way to Margareta,' I replied
'di Rossi? Are you any relation with the Count di Rossi of Genoa?'
'Why yes, that was my father. You have not heard anything of his whereabouts, have you?'
'No, I am afraid not. I doubt you would remember me, then, I am Marquis Lafayette, you were en route to our place to avoid the war when your ship was captured. I though everyone on board was killed, but it looks like you survived.' Lafayette said
'My sister is alive and well in Panama, and I think that the other members of my family are alive as well.'
'Well, I'll keep my ear to the ground for you… visit me next time your around Tortuga,' Lafayette said, before wishing us well on our voyage.

It was another five days before we saw another sail. We were approaching Margareta when the lookout yelled 'Sail ho'
'What is she? I repled'
'A sloop, a Pirate Sloop! Oh crap, it’s the Pirate, Alexander!'
'Sebastian Alexander? The same man who attacked Santa Maria?' I asked
'The one and the same, it looks like he is closing in for battle!
'Prepare the guns, we are going to fight this one out!' I yelled, as my men clambered on to deck, weapons ready, 'load grape shot into the cannons, we'll try to knock out as many of the crew as possible! We are outnumbered at present, so we have to even the score!'
'Captain,' Jones replied, 'They are running low. It seems like they are full of Cargo and gold. We can outmanoeuvre them at present.'
'Indeed. Turn and ready the guns for a broadside!'
As we aimed our cannons, the pirate sloop turned to its portside, putting our cannon of aim. It turned to fire its cannons at us, and I ordered my men to swing the ship to port, to avoid the enemy cannons. However, one of the enemy cannon balls hit our vessel, throwing a number of men overboard, and taking out one of our cannons.
"Forget about them!' I yelled, 'turn to broadside, and fire the grapeshot!'
We fired the grapeshot, making a direct hit on the enemy vessel. However, we were too far away to cause much damage, 'reload with Chain, we aim for their sails!' I yelled
'Captain!' Jones said, 'They have fired again!'
The next shot missed us by only a few metres, but in that time, we had reloaded, firing the chainshot at the enemy's sails. Our attack this time was far more successful than our previous attack, the enemies sails were ruined.
'Captain, she's turned, she's heading right for us!'
'Very well, load the cannons with more grapeshot, if she boards us now, losses will be high!'
'Cannons loaded!' yelled a crewmember
'Fire!'
The grapeshot this time hit its mark, knocking out much of the crew on deck, 'Prepare to board the enemy vessel!' I yelled, as Sai came onto deck, his Eastern Sword in hand. For some strange reason, Sai did not like cannon-fire…

Sai, as always, was the first onto deck, cutting his way through the enemy sailors like a hot knife through butter, followed by the rest of the crew. I drew my cutlass, and scanned the deck for Alexander. I saw him, leaning casually on a rail, looking at me, with a nasty smile on his face. I cut my way through the soldiers in the way, and confronted the pirate captain.
'So, you must be this di Rossi, dog of the Spanish, the fool who made himself the enemy of the Green Dragon fleet!' Alexander said
'Indeed, I am di Rossi, but I am the dog of no one' I replied
'Yes, the dog of no one, for not even a dog would do something as treacherous as what you did to St Martin,' Alexander sneered.
'Be quiet, vile fiend, for I, di Rossi, have come for your head!' I yelled, my nerves finally cracking at his endless taunting.
'Very good, that’s what I wanted!' Alexander said, drawing his long-sword.

He quickly lunged at me, a lunge I easily avoided by jumping onto some barrels and then jumped down, striking my cutlass downward, in my patterned final attack, an attack which Alexander easily blocked. He took a step back, 'So that was your Mead bottle attack, was it? Horge told me about that one,' a dangerous smirk came over his face, as he lunged again. This time, I sidestepped, the lunge had put Alexander off balance, I then struck my cutlass at him, a move he could not block, but he sidestepped, this time, striking his sword towards my face, right into my left eye. The pain was terrible, I had never felt something that painful before. I dropped my sword, and put my hands to cover my eye. I could not see anything, but I heard Alexander say, 'Farewell'
I collapsed in a pool of my own blood, loosing consciousness…

He he, its ony 3000 words so far. Unfortunatly, the Universitys computers crashed due to a virus, so Part 4 will be a while off (since it was lost in the crash) Thats also the reason I have not visited much, since my Internet connection was down.

Falconer, can I ask a question here? Is the maximum amount of Gold per post 200?

Part 4; Mia, the Angel of Death
Margareta

Was I dead? No, death would not be this painful, or this soft... I realized as I felt the soft bed beneath me. I was alive. I tried to open my eyes, but they would not open... Blind? Did that Alexander Barstard make me blind? I could not belive it. I felt a cool washcloth over my forehead, and a soft, delecate hand touch my face. An angelic voice then chirped up. 'Do not try and open your eyes, I'll go get the doctor.'
'Where am I?' I asked I heard her leave the room. A more familiar, gruff accented voice was the one that answered this time. 'You are in Margareta, Captian'
'Sai? What happened on the ship?'
'You were struck down and lost consoussness. If we were not near this Island, you would have died.'
'Then, what happened to Alexander?'
'I struck him down. He's alive, but missing an arm. He is in the care of the local guards'
'How could I loose? I should have paid attention to that creepy old woman...' I said
'What creepy old woman?' Sai asked
So I told him the tale about the woman, and how she told me that bigger troubles lay ahead
'Pay no attention to her, Captian, shes proberly just some forgetful old bag,' Sai said as I heard the door open, and four people walk into the room.
'So, you are awake,' An unfamiliar deep voice said, 'Our town must thank you for your valour. I am sure the Crown will recognize this feat.'
'Who might you be?' I asked
What responded was a familiar voice, that of Jones, 'This is the Mayor of Town.'
'Indeed, I am the Mayor. Our town does not have a governor. However, I must ask you for a favour once you recover'
'And what might that be?' I asked
'Could you transport Alexander to Santa Maria for trial for us?'
'Since its on our way, we would be happy to. But what about my vision. I cant see a thing!'
A different voice responded, this time, I suspected to be the doctor, 'I am afraid that you have lost the vision in your right eye. We have removed it so it would not rot on you. The reason you cant seeis because there is a bandage over it. Penelope, could you remove it, please?'
'Very well father,' the angelic voice responded, as she unwrapped the bandages covering my eyes. I opened my left eye, and surveyed the room.
'You should put somthing over that eye' the doctor said.
I looked on the table and found my green bandanna there. I folded it into a strip, and used that as a patch.
'Doctor, do you think I can get up now?'
'I guess you could.'
'Then I'm heading for the tavern. I haven't had a sip of mead in ages!'
'You should not drink for a few weeks, just as a precausion,' the doctor said.
I sighed, and headed out the door, still heading towards the Tavern, but it looked like I was on water from thencefoward in. Then, a females voice, a voice which seemed vaugly familiar said somthing to me; 'So we meet again, Marco.'
I spun around to see who said this. She was young, short with long brown hair, a cute face, and deep pearcing eyes that reminded me somewhat of my fathers.
'You... you must be the old hag... she knew my first name too'
['the captians first name is Marco?']
The girl visibly got angry, 'You do not even recognise your own cousin? For gods sake, I'm younger than you!'
['Ha, no wonder he kept it quiet with such a sucky name!']
'You two be quiet! Mia? Is that you? What are you doing here?'
'Cousins eh?' Sai said, 'Take this conversation inside, your causing a racket,' motioning to the lanterns comming on in the windows bordering the street. We made our way into the Tavern, and Mia told us her story.

After her father (my uncle) was captured, she helped support her sickly mother while her brother did odd jobs to support them. Then, three years ago, thier mother died. However, her brother heard from a shady stranger, that thier father was still alive. Mia and her brother then jorneyed around the Medeteranian searching for clues to thier fathers whereabouts. Then, in a bar in Valencia, They were told that everyone captured on that ship was taken to Santo Domingo in the New World. However, on the way, thier ship was attacked by Pirates, and her brother was killed. She swam ashore to a nearby island, where she was adopted my Indians. A year later, she made it to San Juan, where she started searching for her father alone.

'but I am surprised you are alive, Marco, (a snigger came up from the crew sitting nearby) they said that you died in that attack'
'No, I escaped from the ship and was recued by a mearchantman' I replied, 'So where are you heading?'
'Me? I heard a rumour that someone In Porto Bello knows his location.'
'Its not Count da Silva is it?'
'How did you know?'
'That guy knows everything... but we are heading in that direction, actully, to pick up my Sister, she's in Panama, you see... Would you like to accompany us?'
Mia's eyes lit up, 'Can I?'
'No, I will not allow a woman to travel on the same ship as me,' Sai said, 'They attract the Water Demons, and if we are attacked by Pirates, she'll be a liability!'
'I will?' she said, looking at Sai in a Sly fasion, 'Then how about a duel. If I win, I will go with you, if you win, I will stay here.'
'A duel? Ha, don't be so foolish, little girl! You would not last three seconds against me! I decline!'
'Afraid to loose to a girl?' Mia said
'Don't do it, Mia, I'll let you travel anyway!' I said, but it was too late. You could see the vein pop in Sai's forehead
'Very well, little girl, I shall teach you why they call me Sai the Bloody!'
'And I will teach you why they call me the Angel of Death!'
The tavern when silent, then the wispers started up
'The angel of death?'
'That little girl is the Famous Angel of Death?'
'But thats Sai the Bloody, it is said that he took on over 100 sailors slaying every one of them!'
'But the Angel of Death is skilled, it will be a close match...'
The two duelists steped outside, the patrions of the Bar folowing them, and assembled at the town square. A company of the towns guards approched, and looked on, as the duel began...

[A note on Chapter 5; This was originally a part of Chapter 4, but when I lost the file, I decided to expand the duel and the events before and after it...]

Chapter 5; The Duel
Margareta

The crowd gathered on the town square were restless. The rumour had gone around fast, that the famous woman warrior, known only as the Angel of Death would be taking on the equally famous Pirate Swordsman, Sai the Bloody. A company of Town Guards had turned up, not to stop the duel, but to watch. A few buccanneers had started up a betting pool, but I stood by, worried. I did not know who to go for. I knew Sai had tremendous skill, and he was my first mate. Then again, Mia was family, perhaps the only family that I had at this time... Mia walked into the square, holding a weapon that was almost my hight; It looked like a spear, but it had a long blade perturding from the top of the Shaft. The thing it resembled the most to me was a Scythe. I wondered how she carried such a weapon, or even fought with it, I could see how she got her name, the Angel of Death, in the shadows she looked like the grim reaper, scythe ready to strike. In my year in the New World, back on cutlass isle, I heard rumors about a ferocious woman fighter... THe rumors said she was eight feet tall, her hair died red with the blood of her many victims... But I never, ever expected the famous woman warrior to be my cousin. The thoughts were rolling around in my head, as Mia stood opposate to Sai, his Eastern Sword drawn.

'I have heard rumors of you, Mia, the Angel of Death' Sai said as Mia positioned herself for battle, the blade of her scythe resting on the dirt road.
'And I of you, Sai, the Bloody...'
'Tenshi, you are ten years to early to challange me!'
'Who are you calling Tenshi, you... you Jerk! I, Mia shall smite you, feel the blade of my Scythe!'
With that, Mia stepped foward, and at the same time, swung her scythe, from the ground, in an upwards movement. Sai, unable to block such an attack, used the opening that this attack presented to lunge at Mia. But there was a nasty smile of Mia's face, she changed the direction of her swing, twisting the shaft so that the blade changed directions, and swung back down, in an attempt to knock Sai to the ground. However, Sai immediatly noticed the danger, and roled out of the way, standing back ut in an attaking pose.
'I see why they call you the angel of death, Tenshi!' Sai yelled, as he sheathed his sword
'Giving up, Jerk? I thought more of you...' Mia sniggered
'Oh no, I am far from giving up. In fact, I am just getting started, I havent had this much fun since the Civil War back home! Prepare for my special attack, Tenshi!'
'A special attack? For me? Why you shouldn't have, Sai... then I'll show you MY special attack, the demon scythe feint!'
With that, mia lowered her scythe, the blade in the dirt of the road, and the shaft protecting her in a diagonal fasion. Sai took a step foward, with which he unsheathed his sword at a rapid pace, swinging it towards Mia. Seeing this, Mia used the shaft of her Scythe to block the initial attack, before usingthe blade of her scythe to throw dirt from the road into Sai's face. However, Sai, antisipating this, closed his eyes, and drew out a shortsword, striking for Mia's neck, at the same time, the scythes blade struck at Sai's neck. Both stopped before they hit, they were only a few inches from each others necks.
'You are far better than I expected, Tenshi, If I move an inch, I win,' Sai said
'And, Sai, If I move an inch, I win. You are as good as the rumors made you out to be' Mia replied
'If that is the case, then this is a draw... You did well, Mia'
'as did you, Sai' Mia responded, as a massive grin came over the faces of the bookies, no one had counted on a draw... as the two warriors slowly walked away from each other, the town guard was forced to keep the Bookies safe.
'I am just glad both of you made it out of that fight in one peice' I replied
'You are worthy, Tenshi, of warding off the water demons, I have no objections for you traveling with us to Porto Bello,' Sai said
'Thankyou, Sai... but what does Tenshi mean exactly?' Mia replied
'It means Angel in my native tounge'
Mia blushed for a second, as the townspeople filtered off back to thier homes, the entertainment for the day over.
'Anyway, Let us return to the tavern. We will have to set sail tomorow,' I replied.

As Mia and Sai happily drank away the night (Mia drinking milk, and Sai drinking water... nether had much of a taste for alcohol) Jones pulled me and my glass of water to the side for the time being.
'Captian, this may be our last safe port of call for a while. I sugest that we place some insurance here,' Jones said in a hushed tone
'Insurance? What do you mean by that?' I replied
'Leave a large portion of our gold in safekeeping here and collect it on the way back to cutlass isle.
'Why would we do that?' I asked
'The goods and gold we plundered from Alexanders ship was quite alot, as well as that, we have been plundering English vessels since we left San Juan. If somthing, how should I put it, unexpected happens during our mission, or Sai gets into trouble, there will still be a large amount of Gold for those who survive.'
'And where should we put this treasure?' I asked
'We burry it on our way out of town tomorrow morning, perhaps on one of the small islands nearby?'
'I like your thinking. I think we should do it... but its getting late, I'm going to bed.'
'Have a good sleep, Captian'

[A commentry by the author. In reality, the original duel was only a few lines long. As well as this, Mia was not as well known as she is in this version, as is the endoing of the duel. The inclusion of the burried treasure is also a new inclusion into this tale. Please post your comments!]

[ok, I have been a bit stuck with writers block for this chapter, so I have decided that I will tell the story a different way]

Chapter VI; A New Take on Things
Dutch Merchantman, en route to Barbados from Curaco

'Captian, are you sure we should be going this way, rumors have spread that the famous Spanish Privateer, di Rossi and his Ryokuryuukai were seen in Margarita, heading in this direction...'
'Indeed they are, and if they try and take Curaco, the Governor has a fleet waiting for them!'
'But Captian, what would we do if we encounter them? I hear that they have the legendry Pirate Swordsman, Sai, the Bloody, who singlehandedly defeated the Garrison of St Marten, and the famous Angel of Death, who slaughted the entire population of an orphanage, bathing in the blood of her dead victims,'
'As far as we can tell, they are all exadurations of the facts. Anyway, they would never think about striking a merchantman like ours.'
A voice from the deck intterupted this conversation between the Captian and his first mate; 'Sir, we have spotted row boat, they are signalling to us!'
The captian, thankful that this converstion was over, walked onto deck, and picked up his eyeglass, looking at the raft, 'Why, thats Captian Jansen, he left port a day before us! Quickly, send someone to pick them up!' A small longboat was lowered, and guided the striken crew to the vessel. Captian Jansen was the first to be pulled aboard, and the Captian of this paticular vessel took him to his cabin.
'Jansen, what happened?' the Captian enquired
'We were ambushed by Pirates! They easily defeated us, looted our ship, sent it to the bottom of the sea, leaving us in a rowboat'
'Who would do such a terrible thing as this?' the captan asked
'It was them, the Ryokuryuukai... they came at us, in the dead of the night, and took out our ship before we had a chance to fight them back. Thier leader only had one eye, a silk band covered his missing eye, but those men that were under him were ferocious, a man with the eyes the colour of blood, and a long thin bladed sword sliced his way through the token resistance we could put up, a little girl with a massive Scythe tore through the rest of us... the one eyed pirate defeated me with a mead bottle... it was terrible!'
'Indeed, it sounds like hell. I think we must return to Curacao and inform the Fleet of di Rossi's location!'
'That would be a wise choice, but an even wiser choice would be preparing your ship for battle, he attacked us with surprise, and although our men outnumbered, and outgunned his small sloop, we were decimated' Jansen replied.
'Very well, I'll intergrate those of your crew that remain into mine, and load the cannons. The winds are behind us, so we should make good time.'

Setting off, the merchantman made good time. Its crew were itching for battle, and it came as no surprise when those words ecoed out later that night, 'I see a light, a light from a small vessel!'
'Aim the cannons and fire at it, they should not know we are here!'

The Sloop, Syzer

I slept. We had a good run in the seas around Curacao, but I felt that it was time to move on to Santa Maria I heard Jones call out to someone, 'Turn off that darn lantern, someone will see us!

'The light has gone out, Captian, what should we do?'
'Fire on the ship with all cannons!'
'Yes, Captian'
'Fire!'

The blast woke me up with a startle, and a number of Splashes could be heard from nearby. Whoever fired those cannons was aiming at us. By this time, most of the other crew was up, startled at what had happened. The lookout reported, 'We've been ambushed! Theres a Merchantman out there, about 16 cannon, from what I could make!'
'We should run, Captian, they outnumber us!' Jones said in his overtly cautious manner
'No, thats what they are expecting us too do...' I said, calmly, 'what directrion did those cannons fire from?' I asked the lookout
'That way, sir, I think I can make out a ship...' the Lookout replied, pointing north.
'Very well, prepare to board. They'll expect a gun battle, we will not give them that. Charge right at the ship!' I yelled as the duo of Sai and Mia came onto deck, weapons ready. Thhe two of them had become quite close since we left Margarita, burring our treasure on a nearby island...

'So, are they running?'
'No, Captian, I can just make out the ship... holy crap, they're going to board us!'
'Prepare for battle!'

As our sloop hit the Dutch vessel, flames strangly appered from out of nowhere (effect!) Sai and Mia went to work, diligantly slaying all the sailors that were opposing us, as I hunted down the captian. Looking onto the deck, I saw a familiar face, the face of a Captian we had plundered only days before. Drawing my cutlass, I approched the man, who seeing me, smiled, drawing a longsword. I swung my sword at him, a move which he parried very easily, before pushing my sword back and striking at me. I sidesteped this lunge, but felt a strange feeling behind me. I spun around, and slayed the other captian that was ambushing me from behind. However, while my back was turned, the Captian who I was originally facing struck at me with his sword. I dodged this my hittting the ground, pulling out a pistol, and shooting the enemy captian. It seemed that the battle on the deck had died down, quite literaly, as the Dutch Crewmembers dived over the side, fleeing the blades of my two expert killers. This battle over, we loadded our ship full of plunder, and continued our voyage to Santa Maria...

Chapter VII; Santa Maria and Beyond

After that certian incident, we managed to get our ship in one piece to Santa Maria. We had lost a number of crew whom needed to be replaced, so I sent Sai to the Tavers to recruit more men, Jones to the Merchants to sell our plundered goods, whilst I and Mia took the pirate, Alexander, who had been bound up in our hold for the entire jorney, to the Governors mansion. The Governors Guards recognized me immediatly, it had seemed my arrival was foretold and immediatly marched up to us, Siezing Alexander and marching him towards the Gaol. Unfazed by this incident, Mia and I wandered into the Governors lounge, where he receved us happily...

'My dear Mr di Rossi, We are at war with the Dutch and the English, but Allied with the French. Can I offer you a Spanish letter of Marque for 800 gold?'
'I'll pass on this occasion. I just poped in to say that we have handed Alexander to the city guards.'
'You truly are a wonderful Pirate! Even though you are not exactly one of our Privateers, the actions that you have committed in the name of Spain has put you above the regular scum that roam this region. Are you sure you do not want a letter of marque?'
'Unfortunatly, it is against my philosophy,' I replied, 'Plus I cant really afford it now...
'A shame indeed, you would have been an asset to us,' The Governor sighed 'but I have somthing else to give you, on behalf of the crown... for the heroic deeds preformed at St Marten and the capture of the Pirate, Alexander, risking life and limb for the spanish crown, I have the honour of proclaming you a Ensign, in addition, I give you 100 acres of land...'
'I... I am honoured, I did not expect this at all!'
'Hey, Marco, your on your way to nobility!' Mia replied
'Indeed you are, Ensign di Rossi... this will force you to hunt for us, Letter of marque or not... however, I have some bad news. I have not heard anything about your lost family members, only that someone in Havana may know somthing about your father'
'Well, thank you anyway, Governor, it is good to know that there is always a safe place for me to go.' I said, declining the Governors offer of dinner, as I returned to the ship to see how recruitment went.
'Ah, captian, how did it go?' Jones asked as I returned
'Me? I got myself promoted... Ensign di Rossi... has a sort of ring to it...'
'Well, anyway, congrads, captian, got us a good price for those goods. Once they heard who we were, they were happy to give us special prices... Anyway, the Crew Sai got together looks rather tough...'
I looked through the crew, recognising one from Cutlass Isle. I pulled him aside and talked to him,
'Sam! I never thought I'd see you here? Whats happening on the Isle?'
'Whats happening? Oh, the locals are up in arms, The governor is abusing his powers, and many of the pirate captians are up in arms... he is even going to introduce a new tax...'
'Its about time someone put some order in that town... what else?'
'Oh yeah, that Scarlet Pirate... err Will, I think his name was, his fleet recently sacked Trinadad under order of the English, I think I heard...'
'But why did you decide to join my crew?'
'I have to work under the legendary Sai the Bloody... he's my hero...'

The remainder of the Crew was tough and hard looking, but skilled in what they did. We set off that evening, setting off West, for Porto Bello... a week passed, uneventfully, before I heard those words I had longed to hear; 'Land Ho!'
My Sister was only days from my grasp. The City of Porto Bello was just ahead. We raised the Spanish flag, and entered the Port...

Chapter VIII (or is it IIX?)
Divided Fate

Porto Bello
It was a walm balmy day as I, Sai, Mia and Jones sat around a table in 'The Drunken Spaniard' Tavern, discussing what was going to happen from hencefowarth in.
'So, let us go over this plan one more time... I will head northwards, and plunder English vessels around Bleze and Provedence to act as a distraction, am I correct?'
'Yes. As far as the people of this town will know is that the Pirate, Ensign di Rossi has gone north to plunder British vessels. What they will not know is that I and Jones will sneak south, thanks to the disguise given to us by Governor Telzaro... I'll have to do somthing about this eye though... a Spanish Noble should have both his eyes,' I replied
'I have an Idea,' Mia said, reaching into her bag and pulling out a pair of Specticles. However, unlike specticles the lenses were black.
'This is somthing I picked up in my travels, they block out the sun...'
Taking these glasses I inspected them. The frames were silver, thick, and made out of a material I had never seen before. They were light. Curiously, on the side, there was an O...
'I think they're called Sunglasses...' Mia finished
'Yeah, I have seen those things around... but I cannot remember where...' Sai said...
'Thanks Mia... but what are you going to do about da Silva, should you not be looking for him?' I asked
'If he's still in town, hes not going anywhere... I'll start looking after you guys leave,' Mia replied
'Well, shall I head off? The men have been rested enough' Sai said.
I took off my bandanna, using the sunglasses to cover my eye, 'Take this, the Captian of my ship should have this bandanna.'
'Thank you, captian, I shall see you again here in two weeks' Sai said, puttng the bandanna on his head and heading back to the ship. I had some spanish Noble clothes, which I had bought earlier that day, so I went upstairs and changed into them. I looked at the documents Telzaro gave me; once again, I was a Count... this reminded me of my childhood. I heard a knock on the door to my room.
'Count da Vega, this is your servent, Johnston here, are you ready to go?'
It was Jones. Our next task would be to find some transport to Panama. As a noble, I could not walk it, I would not even walk it as a Pirate.
We were lucky, a Mule train, actully the Silver Train was returning to Panama and we managed to hitch a ride with them. I was not the only one on this jorney. A young girl with two armed guards was with us, as well as an aging duke and his servant. Jones took me aside, to talk to me.
'Are you sure it was wise to leave Sai in command of the Ship?' Jones said in a quiet voice
'I'm not sure about it too, but if Sai came with me to Panama it would cause too much suspition, after all, how many Easterners are there in the New World?'
'I suppose you have a point' Jones replied, stopping suddenly as one of the young lady's Guards approched.
'Our lady would like to Chat with you, Count.' The Guard said, guesturing to her carrage
'Very well, I shall talk to Madam,' I replied in Flawless Spanish, following the guard to her carrage.
She was rather beautiful, to say the least, long, goldern hair, a beautiful body, and charming smile.
'It is a pleasure to talk to you, Count da Vega. Your aufully young for a count' She said
'Thank you, my lady, My father died when I was young, leaving me with a plantation near San Juan.'
'So why are you going to Panama?'
'I have to collect somthing from someone, somthing very valuble to me.'
'Well, if your heading to Panama, you must speak to my father,'
'Oh? Anyway, whats your name?'
'Constanza. Constanza de Mora.'
'I've heard of that name... perhaps is your father the Governor?'
'Yes! How did you know?'
A smile came across my face. This was the key to get my sister back that we were looking for. I thought to myself that I was lucky I selected as my skill, Wit and Charm instead of Fencing...

[It seems like I'm in a chatty mood, typing away happily... so three chapters in one day! aren't you lucky... me? well, I'm just procrastinating...]

Chapter IX; Aria
Panama

'Oh? Is that right? you own your own ship?' Constanza said
'Of course, My lady, a sloop of 12 guns. Its ancorhed in Porto Bello as we speak' I replied, as the city of Panama came into view
'I have been wondering... what are those strange specticals on your eyes?'
'These are a gift from my beloved cousin, I think she called them "Sunglasses"'
'I like them, I think they make you look cool' She said. My charms had worked, I had her hook line and sinker...
'Would you like to have dinner at my fathers place?' Constanza asked
I smiled. Everything was going to plan, I could use this as an oppotunity for Jones to scope out the manison, 'I would love to have dinner with a beautiful creature such as yourself' I repled, 'I will inform my Manservant, Johnston'
'Is he English?'
'Yes, my father captured him during the last war as a boy, and raised him as our servant' I replied as the Carrage pulled to a stop outside the Governors mansion.
'I shall see you at seven, then' Constanza said, disembarking, 'Driver, take them to wherever they want'
Jones boarded the carrage, as I asked the driver to take us to the nearest Tavern. It was naturally an upmarket tavern, with various wealthy looking men entering the tavern. I diisenbarked, tiping the driver fr his good deeds, and walked inside. I approched the Barkeeper and asked for a room.
'A room you say? It will not be cheap...' the barkeep said, and hen in a quieter voice, 'I mean we do not get too many one eyed pirates like you, di Rossi'
I smiled at this remark, and put twenty gold coins on the counter, 'And you'll have another 20 if you keep my Identity quiet'
'very good, Count. I'll have a room prepared. Would you like somthing to drink?'
'Do you have any beer?'
'No, you should no it does not last the jorney...'
'Then just a brandy. I better keep up the disguise. I have dinner with the Governor tonight'
'Governor de Mora? How did you get an invite to his place?'
'Through his daughter, of course'
'Be careful with that one, di Rossi, she may be harmless, but if you make her cry, de Mora will have assassins after you faster than you can blink'
'By the way, how did you know whi I was?'
'I'm a Pirate spy here... do not tell anyone though!'

Seven thirty came, as I set off for the Governors Mansion, Johnston, aka Jones following behind me. Jones was an expert thief, and was skilled at sneaking around, so he would be useful scoping out the mansion. I was allowed in, and immediatly greeted by Governor de Mora.
'So, you are this young count that I have heard so much about from my daughter!' de Mora said as he guided me into the entrance. I left my coat and Sword with Jones, as I gasped at the massive building. Mansion was perhaps the wrong word for this place, Palace would be a better discription.

The Governor lead me through the long, marble corridor, decorated with silver and cold... I coould tell they did not get many Pirates this way to the dining room, where Constanza was waiting in a fancy ballroom type dress. I left my sunglasses on to help hide my missing eye, but it did not seem to phase the Governor. As I walked into the room, the Governors Daughter looked at me, and guestured to a seat next to hers. The dinner was marvelous, roast duck, llama steaks, French Wine... however, somthing caught my eye, all the servants were female. I looked at the girl who was taking the plate which my Llama Steaks were on... she looked vaugely familiar. She looked at my face, and asked, 'Sorry, but have we not met somewhere before?'
'Aria! do not talk out of line!' the Governor said as a light clicked in my head. Aria... it was her. I decided to ask the Governor about her.
'Aria? I hired her almost three years ago off an old aquatance. Used to be a member of the Geonan Aristocracy... quite a good servant usually, I am sorry she disturbed you,' The Governor replied. I looked in Constanza's direction, and saw a hint of Jelousy on it. The conversation went on for another few hours, before I set home, with an invitation for dinner next monday, which I denied, since I would be heading home. But I planned to make an unexpected visit tomorrow night.
'So, Jones, what did you find out?'
'A piece of cake. I found that the servants rooms are on the opposate side of the building to the Governors Rooms and the Barracks. We can sneak in in the early morning and get back, catching the Morning Carrage back to Porto Bello. Nobody will be any wiser.'
'Did you see what room belonged to your sister?'
'Yes. It seems Aria's room is the third one on the left comming in from the side window'
'Very well, get a good rest, for we are heading out late tomorrow night.'

We sat there, watching the guards from early on in the evening. I had changed back into my normal clothes, but lacking my bandanna to cover my right eye, I still had my sunglasses on. We had the guards patrol down sink, I would go in, Jones, would back me up. The church bells rang one in the morning. It was time.. we had an hour before the guard changed. Carring a rope, I climbed the fence, pulling jones after me, and ran for a nearby hedge. We waited till the guard had gone past, as I started to climb the limestone walls of the Governors Palace. I reached the ssecond story windows, and found the one that opened out to the hallway. I looked down both ways before opening it, seeing that there was no guards, I advanced. Third on the left, I remembered, as I slowly made my way to the door, and put my ear to it. I could hear crying... Aria was in trouble! I slowly opened the door, and found the Aria crying in the lap of none other than Constanza
'da Vega! What are you doing here, you... you thief!'
'This definatly did not go to plan. I am sorry, Constanza, but I am not da Vega. My true name is di Rossi.'
As I said this, Aria stopped crying, and looked at me.
'Marco? Is that you, Marco?' she cried. A surprised look came over Constanzas face.
'You are Aria's brother?' she said confused
'Indeed I am, I am sorry I lied, but I came here to get my sister back...'
'how heroic!' sighed Constanza.
'Constanza, my sweet, could you keep this quiet, and just make it look like she had run away?'
'But Aria has been my best friend since she came here! I... I cant let her go!'
'Please, Constanza, let me go, I promise that I will come visit!'
A sulky look came across Constanza's face, 'Very well, I shall make somthing up. Because you are my best friend'
'Thank you, Constanza, I will return to pay you a visit, next time, I will be more honest,' I said, before kissing Constanza on the cheek. She turned red, as I left, Aria following me. We managed to get out safly, before heading to the coach terminal.
'I am so thankfull that you came, Marco!' Aria cried
'And I am glad I got to see you again, Aria, but we should leave catching up till once we get back to Porto Bello.
The morning coach to Porto Bello was just leaving, and we managed to secure our seats just in time. It had finally happened, after all these years, My sister had returned to me.

[And here is the most important chapter in the whole story. I guess I have been rushing just to get up to this chapter... but also it will be the last chapter I post for awhile... I have procrastenated enough, I have to start those darn essays soon]

Chapter X; The adventure truly begins!
Porto Bello

We talked, and talked and talked all the way back from Panama. She told us her story, how she and the rest of her family were taken to Santo Domingo, where someone sold them off to various people. She did not know where the others were taken, but at least I knew now that my uncle, father and mother were still alive, or at least they were three years ago. So I told Aria my tale, my rescue by the dutch merchant vessel, my jorneys in the East Indies, and my arrival at Cutlass Isle. I told her about my crew, and meeting our cousin Mia. As I mentioned Mia's name, Aria's face lit up.
'I have not seen cousin Mia in such a long time!' Aria said
'She's changed,' I replied, 'These seas do this to you'
Before Aria could reply, the carrage stopped, we had arrived in Porto Bello, a week and a half after we had left. Sai would be here in three days, so the three of us, Aria, Jones and myself, booked a room in an upper class tavern. Two days passed, in which we took in the sights of Porto Bello, visited the governor 'We are at war with the Dutch and the English, and Allied with the French...' and sat by the beach, reminising about old times.

It was the evening of the second day when things took a dive for the worst. Aria Jones and Myself were eating a delicious roast Llama Steak, when I heard someone noisily enter the room. I turned around to see a familiar face.
'Mia? Is that you?' I yelled out
The girl looked at me, and ran to me, 'Marco, I have some bad news!'
'What? da Silva not here?'
'da Silva?' said Aria with a strange look on her face, but I was not paying attention.
'Well, no he's not... but thats not what I need to tell you! Its about Sai!'
'What happened to Sai!!!'
'He was sailing up near Provedence, when two English Frigates attacked them! The ship was sunk, and they were too far from land! I heard this news of a merchant who witnessed the whole thing!'
'Where is this merchant!'
'He runs a general goods store near the harbour!'
'Show us,'' Jones said in a calm tone
'Aria, come with us, this is important!' I yelled, grabing Aria's hand and leading her through the empty streets of Porto Bello.

The merchant was just closing up as we arrived.
'Oh? Its you little lady... Like I said, I do not know where da Silva went...' The shopkeeper said
'No, this is about that battle you saw near Provedence' Mia replied, guesturing to us 'Tell it to these guys!'
'Oh? Well I am sure it was the Ryokuryuukai ship, Syzer... I hailed it for supplies, an oriental gentleman gave us some, and as we were sailing off, I saw two English Frigates corner the ship. Now the Ryokuryuukai could have easily run away, but they stayed as a decoy to let us get away'
I wispered to Jones, 'not likely, Sai would not back away from a fight, even with two frigates'
'But it is good for our reputation...' Jones wispered back
The Merchant continued, ' Those two frigates kept on pounding them with cannon, not leting the Ryokuryuukai board ether one. The ship sank, and we saw the Frigates haul people from the sea, those that were alive were hung from the frigates masts, those who were dead were thrown back.'
'I see, so the real problem is that we have no way of getting to San Juan...'
'I might know someone who could give you a lift, if you would buy somthing...' the merchant said
'Okay, umm, how about this Rapier?' I said picking up the closest thing to me.
'275 gold' he replied. I begrudgingly handed over the gold.
'A merchantman will be leaving for Cartagina in two days time. I'll have a chat to the captian and see if he'll let a Pirate travel on board his ship.'

I thanked the Merchant, as we returned to the tavern to plan things out. We were stuck, on the wrong side of the West Indies, with no way home... I sighed, and went to drink from my mead bottle. Not a drop was left. Angry, I threw it in the gutter and swore to give up alcohol. The Ryokuryuukai would be reborn, but first, I would have to return to Cutlass Isle somehow, along with Jones, Mia and Aria. Only myself and Mia were profitiant with a weapon. Things would get hard from bere on in...

[since I will not be writing much for a while, feel free to post your comments now. Sugestions, complements, what you dislike, I am open to all sugestions.]
