Has any one with the xbox version been able to install a new governor after winning a land battle and if so how? I have yet to be given this option... Sailor

On the PC (I don't have the XBox) You need to end the battle with more troops than they have.

Some also claim that they have to have less than 100 troops left, but I think this may not be the case.

If at all, Rupert, you need to have a GREAT amount more than they have, that is if we assume that the <100 approach is incorrect, though I personally believe it is correct. Tough to know since the game doesn't give numerics during battle, but having had tons of land battles, that's my own conclusion.

Yup, in my experience with the PC version, you need to render the number of defenders to under 100 to be able to install a new governor.

It _may_ be that after a really successful victory (a slaughter with no losses on your side), you will be able to do it also in other situations, but I think the <100 theory is pretty valid.

I'll be interested to learn how things lie with the X-Box version... Question

Most of the time I just nuke them into submission anyway, so I never really paid that much attention to defending forces.
(Meaning I attack until they convert)

Yeah that's usually the subsequent solution to the problem, although often I tend to rely more on Bucaneers to whittle down enemy forces even in situations where a team of Pirates would've made a clean sweep through the remaining enemies - you tend to kill fewer enemies in hand-to-hand combat since an outmaneuvered enemy unit will often flee way before it loses too many of its men. And attacking non-outmaneuvered enemies will probably cost YOU more men. So gunning down the remaining opposition is usually the best solution when you're trying to go for that governor replacement.

Yepper, blasting the enemy with your Buc's is such fun.
Position on a commanding hill, let them come to you and cut them to pieces.

You can even let the Bucs run because the AI will chase them.
Then you outflank your opponent and they go bye-bye.

As someone who has played both versions I can confirm that installing a new governor is triggered the same way in the xbox version as the pc version.
