Cooper. He reduces food consumption by half, which saves money and frees up space in the hold for more valuable cargo.

My favorite specialist is the Parrot.

But I collect them all, even the ones like the Gunner that I never use. You see, I board to conquer.

I prefer the Quartermaster. My biggest problem in this game is the threat of mutiny before I'm able to pirate a big enough fortune. The quartermaster keeps the rabble down until my purse has grown enough to do it for him.

I gotta go with the sailmaker. My Dad`s a sailmaker and had a sail loft outside Boston up till the late 80`s. Most of his work was traditional schooner stuff. Lots of them in New England area. He also did a lot of traditional Square rigger sails in the early to mid 70`s when there was a ressurgence in interest in them for the Bicentennial OpSail program. Working with that heavy flax material was murder, scraped the skin right of your hands. Spent days making hand made grommets with tarred hemp rope. Love that smell.

I'm gonna have to go with the surgeon; if you lose a bunch of crew in a fight, he'll bring half of them back to life. Reduces recruiting and all that fun stuff.

I am guessing Surgeon would be Ruperts most valued Specialist for the very same reason Stryker.

I favour teh Gunner because I am engaging in ship-to-ship battle ALOT. Generally making them surrender before I board.

Though Roland's pure is a really good one, I didn't think about it like that. But nah, I'll stick to the gunner anyway Smile

Nothing like a nice cannonade and the smell of gunpowder in teh morning Razz

Favourite specialist... hmmm... Since I stopped using the sloops and pinnaces (they made the game too easy) and started using brigs, I'd have to say that my favourite is the Surgeon as well. Yes, when sailing the brig, I still get hit sometimes, unlike I did in sloops and pinnaces, and that makes the surgeon very handy. Also, in shipboard fighting, the men tend to die like flies and the surgeon becomes handy there as well.

(yes, it's been a year or more since I last played the game, but I did start a new career during these holidays - I must say that the game really does have longevity! Very Happy )

I'm starting to think I should have chosen the carpenter. Maybe he could have nailed a plank to the front of the ship. Then Old Henry could walk off the end of it and all of our problems would be solved! Very Happy Razz Wink
