The Sims 2 (as well as the expansion & stuff packs) is one of my favorite games. Although it operates much differently than Sid Meier's Pirates!, it does offer some pirate clothing for sims. I once saw a pirate-career mod for The Sims 2. Does anyone else here play games in the Sims and/or Simcity franchises?
P.S. You may have heard that Will Wright, the creator of The Sims series, is developing a life-simulation game called Spore. Is anybody here planning to buy that when it comes out this Spring? |

I've played all the Sim City games and all of The Sims 1. Also have Sims 2 and Sims 2 Pets.
Its a good series for sure. I might get Spore as it sounds real good too. _________________

I have long been an avid player of the Sims and Sims 2, and what I enjoy the most about the games is how easily they can be modified. There are a number of terrific communities online to join and share mods with.
The two that stand out the most are:
http://www.insimenator.net (and it's adult brand http://www.insimadult.net)
http://www.modthesims2.com (and it's adult brand http://www.sexysims2.com)
They are both fantastic groups with a lot of users and a lot of mods to choose from, plus excellent tutorials and tools for modding the game. _________________ “Life's pretty good, and why wouldn't it be? I'm a pirate, after all." |

I too am an avid Sims 2 player. Amazing the amount of detail that can be added/changed/modded/built, everything you would like to day in and day out sometimes. Good times. _________________ Captain's log, stardate IB6-UB9. We are entering uncharted territory here. I hope she asks for more. |

Well, yah, you can kinda expect that when they're two completely different games. You can't even compare the two, they're complete opposite games. _________________ All your ports are belong to us!

What I really like about the Sims 2 is the way you can build an entire family from just two sims through as many generations as you want. _________________ "Give a man a mask and he will tell you the truth" - Oscar Wilde |

Yup, that's a great benefit. I love how sometimes, you can get abducted by aliens and/or tree people and/or vampires lol _________________ All your ports are belong to us!

Just like real life!
I love the Sims 2. When it first came out I was stunned at the 3D detail, let alone all of the customization, and the open possibilities. Just a shame there isn't very many pirates in the sims world. _________________ I was sailin' the high seas, 'round the Florida Keys.

I am on board with all of you. I love the Sims and Sims 2. A friend of mine got me started on the Sims. Then she started playing Sims 2. Well of course I had then had to get Sims 2 to find out all the neat new stuff she was doing. I now own all of the Sims 2 expansions and extra stuff packs. I don't play it as often as I would like sometimes. However, I have been known to spend entire days playing it. Glad to see I am not the only one. |

The only sims game I've played so far is Sim City 3000. It's very clever and enjoyable; the only problem is that I'm always forced to open a casino because my ungrateful simpletons refuse to pay adequate taxes!

I used The Sims to introduce my spirit-sister to the computer. She's 40-something, so badly dyslexic from an old head injury that she can barely read, and was utterly frightened by computers. I wanted to show her that they weren't all that scary (and to practice my tech support skills), so I guided her through playing Sims and promptly got her so addicted she played for 12 hours straight!
I love the fact it was designed to be modded. I'm fascinated by mods, part because I'm cheap, and mods allow me to get more out of a game, and part because I'm fascinated by the construction of a game. My copy of Sims 2 boasted over 200 mods, and I learned how to mod by troubleshooting and tweaking all those mods to work with one another. _________________ "Had you fought like a man, you need not have been hang'd like a dog."

I am a little worse than dave - I have only played Sim City 3000 - but never really got into it.
Allronix - good to hear that you were able to use it with your sister - I hope it helped her. |

I've played Sim city 3000. I've still got it lying around somewhere. Will have to dig it up and play it someday. |
