Lost City landmark found, but not the city

Greetings to ye all.

I've found the rock landmark along the shore. Great, but when I land, there should be a landmark(I don't remember, maybe a dead tree or something) nearly next to the shore landmark, along the coast, but there isn't one in miles. I went furher into the land, seeking other familiar totems, cabins, etc present on the lost city map, without success. Any ideas?

the game is notorious for using the same name for landmarks over again.
