Here's an easy one to keep things going....
Question: Which 1959 film, directed by Howard Hawks, starred Dean Martin, John Wayne, and Ricky Nelson? |

I had to do an internet search to find the name of the movie. If nobody else answers within 24 hours, I'll post the name. |

It has already been 24 hours, go ahead. If you are sure of your answer, go ahead and ask the next question. I have seen this movie probably 10 to 15 times myself. |

Which 1959 film, directed by Howard Hawks, starred Dean Martin, John Wayne, and Ricky Nelson?
Answer: Rio Bravo
Another 'easy' question: What was John Wayne's last movie? |

His last movie was "The Shootist".
Next question- What city in Asia is called "The Venice of the East". Because it has over 1400 miles of canals? |

I figured it must be in the Ganges Delta, so I consulted a map of Bangladesh. The capital, Dhaka, looks like a good candidate, even though it's not very close to the coast. |

OK, you win. I had absolutely no idea. The city I had heard about is Bangkok, because it has over 1400 miles of canals. |

I know the answer to that one but will wait until tomorrow to let someone else ask a question. Bacjk in the day, there were several 'magic" barriers - the 16 foot pole vault, the 60 foot shot put and the four minute mile. Later, the 8 foot high jump and 20 foot pole vault were added to the list. The four minute mile is still considered the biggest achievement of all time. |

The answer to the question is Roger Bannister of England. He was later Dr. Roger Bannister and I believe he was Knighted so he would be Sir Roger Bannister. Being a medical student he studied the medical side of the problem - Oxygen absorption and usage as well as the best training techniques and the use of pace-making "rabbit" runners to be sure he was on pace, and he did it! He is the most celebrated track and field athlete of all time! This really was a big deal! |
