The first one that comes to mind is Maverick, but its popularity faded quickly after James Garner left at the end of the third season, so that can't be the answer. And The Lone Ranger was over before the 1960s started.

I wonder if Parley Baer was a fan of The Hobbit. I can't think where else he would have gotten that name.

Could it be The Wild Wild West?

I'm going to guess Bonanza.

It was Bonanza. It was the first prime time series to be broadcast in color and was a huge success. Many people bought their first color TV's to watch Bonanza. Color TVs were considered quite the luxury in the mid-1960's.

Your turn fleetp!

For several years, the two other major networks (CBS and ABC) could not find a TV show that could beat Bonanza in its time slot. What CBS show finally beat Bonanza in its time slot?

No. The CBS show was on at the same hour as Bonanza.

No. Laugh-in was on Monday night on NBC (the same network as Bonanza). Bonanza was on Sunday night.

I would guess Walt Disney but it was on at 7:30 and Bonanza was on at 9 PM.

Seems my question falls into the the 'too hard' category, so I'll give the answer.
The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour beat Bonanza in the Sunday time slot.

Next question (easy one):
On the TV show Bonanza, Lorne Greene played the father of three sons.
What were the character names of the sons?
I will accept the 'nickname' for the middle son.

Wait 24 hours before using a search engine.

The oldest son was Adam, played by Pernell Roberts. He left after a few seasons and started his own TV show as a Doctor. It did not work out that well and was cancelled after a couple of seasons. He never went back to Bonanza.

The next oldest son was Hoss, played by Dan Blocker. He stayed with the show all the say and was very popular. He made some movies - "Lady in Cement" with Frank Sinatra and Raquel Welch, but was not too successful outside the show. He did at a pretty young age.

The youngest son was Little Joe, played by Michael Landon. He was super popular! He finished the show and started a super successful show "Little House on the Prarie" that ran for MANY years and was a BIG success! Michael developed brain cancer and died pretty young too. Too bad, he would probably be still on TV today, that is how popular he was!
