Between 1847 and 1854 more than one million people left this European country and emigrated to the United States and elsewhere. What nationality were these people, and what natural event caused their mass emigration? |

I'll guess it was the Irish because of the potato famine. |

The Censors required Fats Domino to change the wording of Blueberry Hill when performing on TV and the release/radio version. When playing nightclubs or concerts he could keep the original words. The original words were:
"I found my THRILL on Blueberry Hill"
that referred to having sex on Lover's Lane.
The Censors required him to say:
"I found my FREEDOM on Blueberry Hill"
That changes the meaning of the song. That's the way it was in the 1950's and early 1960's.
Another huge hit for The Fat Man was "Ain't That a Shame" |

Wikipedia lists 10 artists that have covered "Ain't That a Shame". Domino's original version went to #10 on the pop chart, but the first cover, later the same year, went to #1. Two later covers hit #22 and #35, respectively. Name any of the artists who have covered "Ain't That a Shame". No cheating. I'll give hints after incorrect guesses. |

I'm not sure if they made the charts with their cover, but the band Cheap Trick's album 'At Budokan' (it's a live album) has "Ain't That a Shame". |

I am just guessing but I recall Pat Boone "covered" all the hits from the R&B stations and made a fortune off the fact that the R&B acts were not played on the "Pop" stations. So, I will guess Pat Boone. |

Both answers are correct, but fleetp was first. Cheap Trick's version (my first exposure to the song) hit #35 in 1979. Pat Boone's went to #1 in 1955. (Since Domino co-wrote the song, he earned a lot of royalties from Boone's recording!)
The other major cover was by the Four Seasons, who hit #22 in 1963. The song was also covered by Hank Williams, Jr., John Lennon, Tanya Tucker, Brownsville Station, and Paul McCartney. |

Edgar Rice Burroughs is most famous for writing the Tarzan books. He also wrote a series of books about an Earth-man who went to Venus. Name the main character of the Venus books.

No. Alex Raymond created the Flash Gordon character for a newspaper comic strip. |
