My understanding is Jack and friends had hit the bottle hard that night and most if any were in any condition to fight. I mean have you ever woke up after hitting the bar heavy that night and had someone outside in your yard wanting you to come out and fight? Youri in no condition to and im thinking Anne and Mary probably didnt get as shitfaced drunk as those fellows did.
