It's either fear of weasels or fear of cats. I've seen ailuros translated both ways. |

Amazing job Roland, We were asked this on our recent cruise and no one got it. But you did! It is the fear of cats. Your turn.... |

When the pilgrims left England in 1620, they originally set sail in two ships. One proved leaky and was sold, so only the Mayflower made it across the Atlantic. What was the name of the ship that was left behind?
I'll reduce the usual 24-hour requirement to 18 hours since this might not be common knowledge. |

I did a search. The leaky ship was the "Speedwell". |

Aye - Speedwell is correct. Originally named Swiftsure in 1577, she participated in the fight against the Spanish Armada. Decomissioned in 1605, she was renamed Speedwell. She carried the pilgrims from Holland to Southampton, England to meet up with the larger Mayflower. |

When the pilgrims left England in 1620, they intended to land in New England, north of an English settlement that had existed in Virginia since 1607. What was the name of the town in that already existing English settlement? |

You are referring to Jamestown, settled in 1607. I have been there in person and seen this great place. The settlers moved there not because their religious beliefs and practices were out of the ordinary but because this new land offered them a new beginning and free land for this farms. |

Who was the first star for Motown Records? It is a woman and she hit number one May 16, 1964. |

I'll take a guess, and say it was Aretha Franklin, "The Queen of Soul".
EDIT: I just did a search and it wasn't Aretha. |

Her hit song was "My Guy" and later on she had a really big hit "Two Lovers". She had other hits as well but not a long career. Wonderful voice.
Go ahead and use a search engine. |

Mary Wells:

It couldn't be Aretha because she was never with Motown. She did record "My Guy" a few years earlier than Mary Wells, but it wasn't a hit for her. The song was written by another Motown star, Smokey Robinson. |

I don't know but I think pumas have a pretty big range so I'll go with that. _________________ " ... the mistakes that we male and female mortals make when we have our own way might fairly raise some wonder that we are so fond of it. " George Eliot |
