We normally think of the Hawaiian Islands of having 8 islands in the chain. However, the entire Hawaiian Jain extends from the Big Island of Hawaii in the Southeast corner and runs up to Midway and Kure Islaands in the Northwest.
Approximately how many islands are in the entire Hawaiian chain? Closest answer wins.

I'll guess 50

I will declare fleetp the winner. The correct answer is 136. It used to be 137 but one of the islands slipped under the waves a couple of months ago.

What significant thing happened during the American Revolutionary War on December 26, 1776?

Tonight is New Year's Eve. I wish everyone safe celebrations and a happy and prosperous New Year.

Really close, but the crossing of the Delaware was on December 25, 1776. The significant event happened the next day. What was the significant event?

Recently a ball was dropped, as it is every year, in New York City's Times Square to signal/celebrate the new year. Dropping time balls was actually quite common in the 19th century up until the early 20th century, but had a much more practical purpose. What was that purpose?

24 hours before using the internet, please.

Did it have something to do with causing a clock to keep ticking?

I did an internet search. It looks like the balls were dropped from naval observatories and lighthouses as a way to let ships at sea know the exact time.

Near the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Arc, Indiana Jones makes his escape in an airplane. What was the name of the snake in the airplane?

Wait 24 hours before doing a search.
