|
|
Hi Folks,
yesterday while cleaning up my room I found a CD-Version of Pirates Gold! from Sid Meier. Finally I managed to install it via DosBox and started playing..
But now I got a Problem:
The amount of my crews money and cannons is vanishing (along with other goods): I captured the silver fleet and had sth. about 123000 coins and about 320 men (easiest level), I saved the game in a city and if I start that savegame and leave the city and then engage in a fight I sometimes have no cannons (in town I had about 80 cannons) in that fight and often most of my money is lost (after capturing another pirate`s barque I only had the 626 Gold which I just had captured and his 4 cannons). I don`t know how to play this game without the money as the crew immediatly gets angry.
First I thought crewmen leaving my crew had stolen the money, but there were nones leaving, then I guessed I lost the money by dropping a ship out of my convoy or selling it, but when monitoring the amount of money I couln`t directly see that link, so what to do?
Are that bugs fixed by a patch?
The version I played is from the german bestseller-games series (#20).
Any suggestions are welcome!

Glad to see the problem was self resolving.
I have not played Pirates Gold for years - perhaps I will see If I can find my box - and play again 1 day - but not soon as currently moving house - and chances of finding it in the boxes are slim.
Happy Pirating.
And Welcome to Cutlass Isle. |

I downloaded Pirates! Gold the other day, but i have another kind of problem:
Naval battles seem to happen in "hyperfast" mode. As soon as the fight has started, it ends. Either i lose a ship, or the other ship escapes from the battle in less than half a second.
I guess i may have to run it too in compatibility mode or use Dosbox or something, any ideas?
By the way, the fencing made no sense to me, is there any strategy behind it, or is it just random stabbing and thrusting until the swordfight ends? _________________

Guru, what program did you use to run p gold? Command prompt?
You should use DOS BOX. It allows you to control the CPU rate. |

Yeah, I think I should use DOS BOX, I just ran the program in windows vista. I play a windows version, but didn't do anything else to make the game run correctly.
Anyway, the game seemed simple and really slow, I don't think I'll try it again for some time... _________________
