Why is the turkey happy also?
Aye, I figured it out- he was invited for dinner...but he won't be around for dessert, poor gobbler! _________________ Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves;

Happy Thanksgiving! If you are reading this your are richer than most people in the world. Share your blessings with those less fortunate by making a donation to charity. Don't have any money to spare? Donate a coat or other item of clothing.
Peace out.
(Now, bring on the wenches, rum, and drumsticks.) |

I didn´t know that thanksgiving is so late in the USA, in Germany we had it already in the early october. Well, have fun and a good meal! _________________ Never pay more than 20 bucks for a computer game!

As part of the Victorian Era's re-invention of Christmas, the US made Thanksgiving the last Thursday of November, with the timing intended to signal the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. It was later changed to the fourth Thursday because someone complained that when it fell on the 29th or 30th the shopping season was too short.
Like Germany, Canada also celebrates Thanksgiving in early October - around the time when Americans celebrate the increasingly controversial holiday of Columbus Day. I think that date makes much more sense. |

Someone should tell our local retailers that they aren't supposed to push Christmas shopping until after Thanksgiving. If we don't watch out, some day we will find that America's Thanksgiving is being moved to June. _________________ " ... the mistakes that we male and female mortals make when we have our own way might fairly raise some wonder that we are so fond of it. Christmasy Stuff started here about 2 to 3 weeks ago - I could not believe it...
May as well advertise all year round.

I saw a Christmas display in one store shortly before Halloween.
In the Netherlands they outlaw any appearance of Santa Claus before December 7. They want to forestall any possibility that this American-born imposter might displace the nation's patron, St. Nicholas, whose feast day is December 6. |

Well, I can see it would be confusing for children, but here's how you tell the difference, kids. The genuine St Nicholas wears a pointy hat and carries a fancy stick. (Technically a miter and a crosier.) The fraud has a floppy hat and no stick (not a real bishop.) He frequently wears dark glasses to hide his shifty eyes and generally has swift transport available in case he needs to make a quick getaway. The third image is a rare shot of Santa Claus without his make up.
The third shot was of the Grinch, but the link went bad so I removed it.

I can't do that; we had a pork roast for Thanksgiving dinner. |

We still have some turkey - but you might be more interested in the chocolate pecan pie made with bourbon! |
