I have the Spanish frigate mod. Yes it is a good one but I decided a Spaniard just wasn't a Spaniard without his trusty ole galleon. I was more or less trying to find out why I keep having such a easy time getting sotl in the east indies mod . One reason is obvious like less Spanish and more of the others but there could be other reasons too perhaps. I don't really stick to any one type of ship. I just keep two of my best I capture and sell the rest. Ships and sea battles are my biggest problem with this game. The game is very basic in this area. nothing special.

Too bad the "mods" section of this site is completely defunct. I personally think nobody should use those free download sites since they're so unreliable. Just get a website for $5/mo and put it there...

This is what you get when you combine two mods together plus using a little creativity of your own.

Haha, my favorite is the "map" being held up in the governor's office. "Your mission is to bring me one of these."

Did you capture the image of the four nations' recruiters on Talk Like a Pirate Day?

PostPosted: Sun Jan 25, 2015 10:46 pm    Post subject: My screenshots Reply with quote

The screenshots are basically a combination of the East Indies Mod and MCSmarties's Brethren of the Coast Mod. Rather than changing the French nation into the Portuguese I chose to turn the Dutch into a Pirate kingdom. One of the early challenges in making a nation such as the Dutch into pirate was getting rid of all the Dutch text and replacing it with Pirate. In MCSmarties's Brethren of the Coast Mod the text.ini was changed from Dutch into Brotherhood but this still leaves all the Dutch text in the Pirates!.exe. Of course as we all know now the Pirates!.exe needs to be patched as well. The screenshot of the recruiters was taken from my own game to show that the Dutch are now pirates. Pirate is one letter longer than Dutch so by changing lads into men I was able to fit it in nicely. In fact I was able to change all the Dutch text in Pirate except the Dutch rutter of course which I left alone on purpose. For the term Dutchmen I used buccaneers which worked nicely because of enough free space to allow for it.

Add in AdamMil's ironman mod, nothing basic there!

I think ironman + fast cannonballs + no surrender (for top pirates) makes the battles more tense and exciting, but then I'm biased. :-)

Yes, I like all of the goodies that came in AdamMil's challenge pack. Indeed it does spice the game up to another level of awesome. Still though I think SMP is not on the same level as Seadogs for example when it comes to Seamanship, graphics, and just and overall feeling like your really out there on that ship. In smp you would think boarding another ship means ramming head on as fast as you can go and poof your on board the enemy dueling it out. It should be before you can board you need to be side by side close enough to use a grappling hook to pull the two ships together before boarding. I do however like the onboard ship duels better in smp.

actually tightening the collision box boundaries should help. The biggest problem is when you demast your opponent it moves his collision box waaay out there.

(from Led Zep Rock and Roll) So after 11 pages back and forth, what is the final install sequence and location for everything on a Winblows?

And is anybody out there still interested but finds the setup to daunting?

I mean I was 1 of the people trying to work out all the kinks and glitches and I am having to ask how to install it.

PostPosted: Wed Apr 20, 2016 9:46 am    Post subject: minor glitch Reply with quote

After all the time I spent playing the East Indies mod I finally noticed a glitch. I have saved a game wherein I have just departed a pirate haven headed due east. If I then turn due north I travel to a spawned English settlement. Once there I am asked to escort the mayor. IF and only IF you had approached the settlement form the south, when you leave with the gov' he disappears. The reason is the pirate haven and settlement (both random spawns) run along a landscape faultline. If I approach the settlement from the west, taking a large tack to get there, everything proceeds normally.

Is the landscape faultline a bug introduced by the mod? Or is it a feature left over from the original Caribbean map, which served some purpose in its original context?
