There is a landlocked body of water northwest of Gran Granada just inland from the coast just south of the modern nation of Belize. I'd start there.

That general area is a very common location for maps. Sometimes it's described as north or northwest of Gran Granada, as yours was. Other times the same area is described as southeast of Villahermosa.
