Yes indeed, there was a group called the Illinois. That is what the state is named for. Their most famous Chief was named Pontiac. That is who the car company was named for. |

Indeed it is. They were wiped out by other tribes before white settlers reached the region, but their name lives on.

Nittany lion is one of the many names of the large feline also known as cougar, mountain lion, panther, puma, and catamount. |
