How much longer will this site be maintained for?
Edit: How long the admins pay for the costs of hosting the site? |
According to the Users List - Falconer set up his account 1st Aug 2003
and 13 years later we are still active.
If money is an issue - perhaps a go Fund me |
Yes, Falconer set the board up on July 30, 2003 and it created very little attention for a LONG time. In the first year of the board, fewer than 100 people signed in here because the new game had not been released in the USA. The Windows version of the game was not released until November 22, 2004 and enrollment here on good old Cutlass Isle actually took off around November 1st.
Then thing went crazy. By the time Rupert logged in here in late December 2004, he was already user number 713. By the time the old Salty Dog arrived on Feb 1st, 2005 I was number 1166 and the board peaked the week before, that is when 273 people were on at the same time. Back then 10, 20 and even 30 people would sign up EVERY DAY! The number of posts on the board was amazing! 100 posts per day was nothing!
Now, you can't even find SMP in the stores except for the console games.
For any of you out there playing on a console, believe us, the game is MUCH better on a PC! You can download it or buy it cheap on Ebay.
Anyway, the game continues to decline but we are the true believers. I still play the game at least once every couple of months. I usually name my Pirate Gun Pierson after my Cutlass Isle hero! |

I like the pc version games since Im sometimes in to modding. Never downloaded the ipad version or played the game on my old xbox. Anyway I always feel like mods bring more excitment to the game and encourage others to give it a go but once a game is on a down hill slide it's hard to maintain peoples interest. A fund me idea is interesting. Maybe have the girl scouts go door to door selling pirate cookies for us will do the trick and bring back a uploadable mods section. What say ye? |

I can't currently upload mods to the mod section. Am I correct in assuming none of us can? Is this something Falconer can activate for us? |

No mods can't be uploaded and is been that way for a long long time. That's why we have been using Dropbox and similar sites to provide a way for people to download our mods. Could it be fixed? My guess would be yes. Will it be fixed? Probably not. Falconer could answer the question but I think he knows it's not working. If I'm not mistaken this has been discussed before. |

Okay, I'll try to contact falconer and see if mods uploading can be reactivated.

I received a reply regarding reactivating uploading mods.
"Unfortunately that part of the site is very broken and cannot be rebuilt." |

Exodus Forums appears to be defunct - or at least on hiatus. |

On, nuts. Well, if this site goes down we can all gather at wolflore dot net
(I'm an admin there).

No plans to close the site guys. Unless it breaks (which is always a possibility, it's pretty old tech) it will remain online. |
