Sounds like they are still in mourning. King Bhumibol Adulyadej passed away in October. RIP.

After almost 19 years, I bought Mrs Salty Dog a new car. We decided to pass her old one off to her brother in Santa Barbara, CA. So we drove down there the past two days - drove 1300 miles in two days. Made it OK but I am pretty tired today.

As I was driving home from my brother's on Monday night, I started seeing dots of light shooting across my field of vision. The next day there were large floaters and some distortion in my left eye. Yesterday I saw an ophthalmologist and had a hasty laser surgery to repair a small tear in my retina. It might be a while before my left eye is fully functional again.

Roland, you are having more than your share of bad this past year. Let's all hope the New Year will change your tidings!
I will need Cataract surgery on both eyes this year. Am waiting to do the taxes first and then will have it done before late Spring vacation.

My parents have both had cataract surgery in the past few years. If seems like just about everyone gets it eventually if they live long enough.

The secret to prevention is apparently protecting your eyes from bright light. Since I learned that I've been wearing my sunglasses a lot more!

Isn't that kind of hot this time of year?

Yes - but not going more than 1000km ( 625 miles ) - might have over estimated the trip length Smile

Well, I'm back - no internet for the past several weeks.

Air Con in car died - and the radiator ruptured - both now replaced.

I got bitten by a Scorpion - that was the most painful thing I have endured so far.

Temp went as high as 40 Deg C - 104 F and 62% Humidity.

Went trout fishing in rivers and Boating on a Lake that Max. water depth is 72 m (236 ft).

Had loads of fun on the most part.

I'm glad to hear you survived, and to have you back.

I was rather fascinated with Australia in the late 60s and read everything I could get my hands on. I concluded that driving across the country in the summer was a little foolish for a tourist to attempt, although I would have feared/ predicted a snake or centipede bite moreso than a scorpion's.

I guess it's better to be bit by a scorpion than a saltwater crocodile....

Sounds like a country song - one thing after another goes wrong - but then you get to go fishing!

Good point - though you never feel the bite of a saltwater crocodile, but if you see one first - never smile at it Smile

And I live way to far south to worry about that anyway Smile

I've been stung by scorpions. For those who have not experienced it, I hope you never do. The stings are VERY painful.

Does it hurt worse then a ant bite. I remember getting bit by a big ole ant and I would have rather been stung by a bee any day. Here is some words of wisdom. Never feed a cat from the hand. Cats have no self control when they see or smell food and are very crazy and stupid. Ever seen gravy on a cats head? That's cause he tries to eat before the food hits the dish

I've been bit by ants, to include fire ants. In my experience, the scorpion sting hurt more than the ant bite. Having said that. some ant bites are worse than others, and some people are more sensitive to bug bites or stings than others.

What kind of ant bit you, Pirate?
