Can anyone give me some tips on how to change the game's music files? I'm an aspiring game composer and want to practice by rescoring Pirates!, which I played lots of quite a few years ago. I've tried using Pakbuild (but have struggled to find any guides on how it works). Simply replacing the WAV files in the game files doesn't work either. Any help would be much appreciated!
on the original DVD disk release install, the sound files are located here
C:\Sid Meier's Pirates!\Assets\Sounds
where C:\Sid Meier's Pirates! is the install location
Recommend avoid installing to C:\Program Files in Windows 10
as now an OS protected location and requires admin rights
Either directly replace the required sound wav file (make a backup first)
or alternatively use the custom override folder
C:\Sid Meier's Pirates!\custom
Create it if required
This thread deals with replacing wav sound files in the assets location
Welcome to hooked on pirates!
I believe Corsair is correct.
On my PC the path to the sound files is
C:\program files (x86)\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Pirates!\Assets\Sounds
I have Windows 10, and I had to invoke Admin rights to make any changes in the C:\program files (x86) directory
I have noticed that sometimes I have to exit the game and restart it before swapped files work correctly.
