I'd like to see some random encounters while traveling on land. Be it in search of treasure, or marching to a distant inland town to plunder. They could be natives, or aliens, you know the ones that built the Mayan pyrimids...
Either way it would make land travel a bit more interesting. Especially if you could pick up an automatic pulse rifle, or something. |

Finding natives would be interesting. You could have the option of trading some of your (useless) goods such as beads for any gold they have, or you could just blast them off the continent...with your, um...automatic pulse rifle

Well in the original, there was always notices in the bar (or from other ships captains) about towns being attacked by Indians. May as well get their help when trying to attack other nearby towns.
