Sid Meier's Pirates! review (PSP) |
|
You didn't think Hooked Gamers would pass up an opportunity to review Sid Meier's Pirates! for the PSP did you? Crewmate Rook had trouble putting away his PSP while playing the game. You can read his findings in the full article.
Here's a blurb:
A sailor's life has never been easy, less so when you make a living preying off of the commerce of a major European power in the 1600s. As you embark on your first voyage into the Caribbean to hunt your prey, whomever that may be, the sights and sounds of Pirates! are all very familiar. Your objective in life is to avenge your disgraced name and recover not only your lost family members, but also the untold fortunes of lost cities. Also, you should be aware of the benefits of holding rank and title with one or more of the major political powers. Rough seas, epics sea battles and daring sword fights await you over the horizon.

Cutlass Isle (a.k.a. Hooked on Pirates) Challenge begins October 1st |
|
The Fluyt for a Flagship challenge, the first officially sanctioned HoP competition, shall commence October 1st, and run until the end of December. Use what is surely the worst possible ship for piratin' and pirate away for prizes and the grudging admiration of your community.

Arrr! It is "Talk Like a Pirate Day" |
|
It is time to annoy your colleagues and drive your spouse insane.
From the 'official' Talk Like a Pirate Day website:
Tuesday September 19th 2006 is Talk Like a Pirate Day! Talk Like a Pirate Day only comes once a year (on September 19th), this year it falls on a Tuesday. If you’re not ready yet, you can learn more about this international holiday on the About TLAPD page or practice some phrases from the PiratePhrases page. After all, you don’t want to be handed the BlackSpot when the holiday is over!

Over 250 mods online! |
|
Yup, you read that right!
There are now over 250 mods in the Mod Database and it's still going strong. Hooked on Pirates! modding has always had the most active Sid Meier's Pirates! modding community (besides having the most active forum community - don't let the numbers deceive you hehe) and it shows. Besides this 'mountain' of mods, the database has all sorts of other files as well. If you haven't tried modding your game yet, you should check it out.
A big thanks to everyone for making the mod database and forums such a (continued) success, even now, almost 2 years after the game was released!
