I know the Caribbean is everybody’s favorite honey hole when it comes to pirate games and rightfully so because these are the pirates we here the most about in our region. I do recommend those who keep playing the game over and over which there is nothing wrong with that but keep in mind a new map does make things different and a little less predictable. I guess I’m saying it’s basically the same game but it takes away the home field advantage if you play the East Indies. I’m not saying to play my version unless you like off the wall craziness like I do. Actually I get tired of that sometimes but humor as a way of finding itself in my mods regardless of my initial intentions. Guess that’s why Santa never came the last several years. I do recommend you try the mod that the Modal Citizen put out. I helped out on that one and no crazy shit. It’s another way to challenge yourself. Modders won’t be here forever so enjoy while you can. I do intend to be back again but it’s unknown if I will or not at the moment. Depending on future circumstances. As of now I’m not modding and won’t be for the foreseeable future but sometimes things change and if they do I’ll return.

I finished my latest game Sunday night. Finished all the required stuff at age 30 included all four lost cities. I only had about 7,000 acres of land and since I was playing Adventurer level, had I retired at that time I would have scored around 120 points.

Gun Pierson was only 30 years old at the time and since he had the Medicinal Herbs and Incan Salve, he was in good shape so he kept on sailing for a while. I decided to take him on a cruise of the entire Spanish Main to gain more money and especially land. This worked out perfectly. He kept dancing with the daughters and generating wanted criminals, who, in turn, generated bounty money and land rewards. Even more importantly, he visited all the Pirate Havens. By doing so, he launched pirate raids of nearby cities.

So, I escorted the raiding pirates to find and capture the Pirate "Interceptors" and then turned on the ship I was escorting. Each time I did this it generated about 250 or 300 acres of land from all four countries. Before I finished my lap of the world I now had almost 25,000 acres of land which easily game me 126 points so I retired at age 33 with 126 points. This is the easiest way to generate wealth I have found.

Are the pirate 'interceptors' ships of the four nations, or are they pirate flagged vessels?

They are pirate flagged vessels and capturing or sinking them earns big rewards from all four nations. Also, the raiding pirate ship also earns you points. So, running such a mission earns you 1000 to 1200 acres of land once you are Duke. If you are trying to get promoted, it boosts you up the ladder a LOT!

I have never followed a raiding pirate ship. I will have to do that and report back what I find. Good question!!!

You need to get the two Pirate Interceptors too, then get the solo ship you sent off to begin with. Triples your booty!

When a pirate raider attacks a city, it sails right into the city and disappears, as I recall. Its impact on the city - reduced wealth, reduced soldiers - is computed immediately and the status of the city is adjusted, which might change the city's flag and music.

I played another game this past week, it had been several months and I like to play at least every 3 months.
I played my favorite setup: 1660, English, Adventurer, Wit and Charm and named the Pirate Gun Pierson as usual! I made sure England, the Dutch and the French were all at war with Spain - had to start the game 3 times to get this alignment.

What a great start I had! I was going to sail into St. Kitts but turned around before entering so I was still immortal. I sailed south towards the NE corner of Trinidad to intercept the Treasure Fleet when they appear Feb 1, 1660. This time, however, I ran into an Indian War Canoe and captured it, sinking my English Sloop. I then decided to enter the Indian Village and told them to attack Trinidad. I the went after the Treasure Fleet.

I knocked off one Treasure Ship, took the most valuable cargo and gold and sank the ship. Then, I went after another Treasure Ship, conquered it and took it over. I think I got 15 sailors from this and the previous one. Then, I attacked and took over one of the Pirate Interceptors sent after the Indian canoes I launched. So, I went to Barbados with two war canoes, a Treasure Ship and a Pirate Brig. I made Major in all three countries and recruited men every Tavern. I then went to Puerto Cabello and took over the city, giving it to the English so I made Colonel then.

I attacked a bunch of Spanish ships and was soon Colonel or Admiral right away from all 3 countries. I danced with Beautiful Daughters and earned the dip two times, hunting down Monty right away and after two times I figured out where his hideout probably was. There was a town on an East/West coast and Monty's hideout was south of that. I thought it might be in the Bay of Honduras but it was not. So, I went West of Villa Hermosa and sure enough that is where it was. So I knocked off Monty at his hideout after only 19 months of game play! I was still 19 years old when I got Monty!

After that I had a normal game and it went very quickly finding my relatives, getting all the named pirates and their treasurers and marrying the beauty from Curacao. I retired at age 28 in fair health. Since I was only an Adventurer I finished with 122 points but am very happy with the results!

I highly recommend people try playing a game using the techinque I use.

1. English 1660
2. Wit and Charm
3. Attack the Treasure Fleet right away - don't enter your home city - turn away and sail to NE corner of Trinidad and engage the Treasure Fleet when they arrive Feb 1, 1660
4. Get promoted quickly and dance as much as possible to launch Monty
5. Find Monty's hideout as soon as possible
6. If your crew is unhappy, divide the plunder and recruit a large crew to attack Monty's hideout and get rid of him very early in the game.
7. Use a small boat to speed up navigating around the world
8. Retire before age 30

Try it, it is fun!!!!
