Changing the characters in the storyline would require more editing even the executable for certain characters. Now changing a pirate to Francisco the Great wouldn’t require the executable to be modded but renaming Montalban to Billy Boy Blue might as his name is in the executable so that could cause text issues in the game not showing up correctly like in the Brethren of the Coast the guy changed the nationality of the Dutch but didn’t relies that the executable had Dutch text as well and that’s why Dutch showed up sometimes.
