The bartender's comment is comparable to the barmaid's "It's pretty quiet in here". Simply put, it doesn't mean anything.
On the other hand, you can get a fix of parrots by turning your attention to the modding forum. Our forum bear (rupertlittlebear) has concocted a mod that adds parrots to the game... _________________ It is much better to be armed with a sword that has two edges than with an estoc [...], which is nothing more than a stick with a point. It means he doesn't have anything useful to tell you (the rumored whereabouts of Baron Raymondo et al, the nearest beautiful daughter, the "need" for a raid by pirates or Indians, the location of prospective immigrants waiting for an escort). _________________ I only do what the voices in my head tell me to do. |

You gotta love the "need for a raid" bit. "Ye know what this town needs? A good raid in which hundreds of innocent people, very possibly including myself, will be killed, robbed, scalped or raped!" Makes all the sense in the world that he should request such a thing! _________________ "Even the strongest man must sleep and even the smallest child can carry a knife" -Hobbes |

Maybe he gets a kickback? "Cap'n Kidd, I was the one who told Cap'n Incognito to suggest you raid this port, so I figure you owe me the usual four percent of the loot."

I suppose that could work but what about the natives? They just kill off the population dont they? _________________ "Even the strongest man must sleep and even the smallest child can carry a knife" -Hobbes |

So then the population isn't around to keep somebody from salvaging their former possessions. Not all scavengers go on wings or four feet.
Or maybe the barkeep's just feeling crotchety. _________________ I only do what the voices in my head tell me to do. |

I like using pirate raids and village raids to soften up a city if it's too large for me to attack. Occasionally Havana will have ~780 troops and I just can't compete with that. A few pirate raids later and it's down to 500 and ripe for plunder. _________________ Operor retineo bastards adepto vos down |

Parrots were originally meant to be a part of the game but PETA put an end to it. _________________

Are you serious?...
Ok. I worked for the ASPCA, and I worked at a veterinary clinic as well. I too am against animal cruelity, but PETA sometimes goes overboard with it. It's a video game for God sakes. Does PETA see animals at pet stores and think "those poor critters are in prison"? I should stop now. I feel my blood pressure going up.
Just saying Parrots and Pirates go together like Rum and Coke (Mmmm)! _________________ "Families are like fudge...Mostly sweet with a few nuts." |

Sadly, I believe it. PETA probably did put an end to it!
Don't get me wrong. Animal abuse is nothing to joke about. Just watch any ASPCA commercial (with the sad song & animal pictures).
It's just that PETA sometimes take things too far. _________________ If you can't run with the Big Dog, stay on the porch! |

No, they make them "flee for their lives!" I know this was from '05 but my CDO wouldn't let me ignore it! _________________ The Code is the Law. |

In Wii version when fencing there's a parrot -feature.
Also you can customize your ships' and character's appearance, and raiding cities is similar to Ipad version. |
