What body of water lies between Madagascar and the coast of Africa?
(It is part of Indian Ocean, but I'm looking for specific name for this region). |

I'd call it the Madagascar Sound. |

Sorry Rusty, a sound guess, but off the mark.
It'd be a "channel", and is named for another land bordering on it.
Aaargh, mateys, pull out yer charts and find the bugger 'fore we run up on these rocks!

My computer is pretty sketchy about turning on. So I don't have the online presence and ability to game that I used to.
Out of curiosity I tried to google a definitive difference between a channel and a sound. It said that "usage is inconsistent."
I have concluded that a channel can only become a sound if someone is there to hear it.

It looks like Pirate gave the correct answer, but we'll wait for Sir W. to confirm that. |

I'm sorry mates, we've a madman at the helm in the home port, and it's going to be all hands on deck for a bit to keep him strapped.
Yes, Pirate is correct. |

Salty is at sea again. We are currently pulling in to the port of Puerto Vallarta. Tomorrow we visit Mazatlan and then Cabo San Lucas. |

Arrrgh, how I envy ye, mate. 'Druther sail 'round the Horn than be in this harbor at present, but that sounds much nicer. |

M.C. Beaton is a New York Times bestselling author. What genre is she most famous for?
Since this is an opinion question, there can be several correct answers. |
