That's it Pirate! I guessed it instantly when someone asked me the question and since this is a nautical story board I figured you all would get it right away. His name was Captain Smith.
Your turn! |

I haven’t ever played it either and it doesn’t really excite me to do so but I was suprised to find out how long it has been around although it did take awhile for it to become popular. Go ahead and look it up or pick a year between 1960 to 1970. |

When was fantasy football invented?
1962
Here is the history of fantasy football confirmed by two sources: The game originated in 1962 from an idea of Bill Winkenbach, then a limited partner in the Oakland Raiders, with assistance from Bill Tunnell, the Raiders' public relations man, Scotty Stirling, the beat writer from the Oakland Tribune, and George Ross, the Tribune's sports editor, as ... |

I just remembered I took a guess at this. Let me start researching....
Okay.
Alaska has 5 basic species of salmon, and each has multiple names, so it gets confusing, but I'll accept any common name. What are these 5 species ?
I'll judge this as the first guy to come up with a name for one of these species gets a point. Maximum of 5 points, most points wins. Theoretically somebody could win with two if everybody else can only come up with one species each. |

Some guesses:
Coho salmon
Chinook salmon
Pink salmon
I don't know if that last one is an actual species - it's the first listed ingredient listed on my canned salmon, so it's probably just a marketing term rather than a real name. And I have no idea what the geographic ranges of the first two might be. |

That's pretty good! I've been to Alaska a few times myself. I figured Salty had the inside track on this one, living the closest and also having cruised there.
You are three for three the first guess! The other two are Sockeye/Red, usually found in restaurants and Dog/Chum, which is normally used to feed and fuel sled dog teams rather than sold to humans, although it's still better than a lot of fish.
Here's a chart-

Your turn, Roland. |
