Ahoy,

With jlangsdo's editor I am now able to create a new world with more active towns. I am currently building up a New World and here is what I have s far :

By moving settlements and upgrading hem to semi-cities I have colonized the Lesser Antilles plus the Dutch West Indies. I plan more for the entire map but I am unsure how the lack of settlements will effect the global economy (I think cities depend on ships spawning in settlements in order to flourish).

Personally I never cared much for settlements so I have replaced a few. As jlangsdo already mentioned in his thread, the towns are no real towns (they do not appear on the big map and you can not attack them) but trading, recruiting and interacting with the governors work.

If anyone of you could test aroud a bit with the savegame it would be helpful. I am interested in any bugs you come across but especially I'd like someone to play a while and see if the towns still grow and what type of ships spawn from the different tows.

Cheers,
The Aberdonian

PS: All thanks go to jlangsdo for his editor, fantastic tool that is

I tried to be acurate regarding history but in order to have a working game this is not 100% possible. 3 of the colonies (Sankt Jan, St. Vincent and Dominica) created have been founded later and two were Danish (Sankt Thomas and Sankt Jan) but in the save game they are Dutch. Other changes are Curaçao and Sint Eustatius have been relocated to another island and a few have been slightlt renamed (for example St. Martin to Sint Maarten).

List of colonies in the game, the nation, type and year when it was founded.

Sankt Thomas Dutch town 1657
Sankt Jan Dutch settlement 1718
St. Croix French town 1625
Anguilla English town 1650
Sint Maarten Dutch city 1631
Saint Barthélemy French town 1623
Saba Dutch town 1630
Sint Eustatius Dutch city 1636
Saint Kitts English city 1623
Nevis English city 1628
Barbuda English settlement 1666
Antigua English city 1632
Montserrat English city 1632
Guadeloupe French city 1635
Marie-Galante French settlement 1648
Dominica French settlement 1715
Martinique French city 1635
St Lucia French town 1643
St Vincent French settlement 1719
Grenada French town 1649
Barbados English city 1627
Tobago English settlement 1672
Trinidad Spanish city 1592

Curaçao Dutch city 1634
Bonaire Dutch settlement 1639
Aruba Dutch town 1636

City is a full city, settlement is a small settlement with a mayor instead of a governor and town is the semi-city (i.e. with governor, merchant with money and crew in tavern)

If you play it let me know if there are bugs with the economy. The game is a typical 1660 Spanish Adventurer level game with skill at medicin.

If the economy does not collape, I'll convert the remaining settlement there to towns as well. My next step is to "downgrade" Nevis and Montserrat to semi cities as well in order to free up space for full cities. Then I downgrade two or three cities from the Spanish Main (I think Rio de la Hacha, Coro and Gibraltar) and move them to the Mexican Gulf. There might be some movements on Cuba and in the Bahamas as well. Likely I'll also sacrifice Gran Granada and Puerto Principe since I do not visit these inland towns anyway.

If you have more ideas on city movements, let me know.
