Since the repeated posts had the exact same wording I figured it was a mistake, so I already deleted the duplicate posts. I'm not sure what causes posts to repeat..
Very respectfully,

Likely a weak connection time out or something of that nature. I double post other places as well especially if it appears like it didn’t go through the first time. |

New here just a question on mods.
Noticed there are things like barmaids and stuff.
If you download them do they overwrite existing or all current ones?
TIA

Add texture mods to the Custom override folder
in the game installation folder
The game will use the added Custom content
instead of the regular default in the Assets Folder PAK archives
For example say
C:\Sid Meier's Pirates!\custom
where C:\Sid Meier's Pirates!\ is the game install folder
No longer recommended to install any Windows games
to Program Files as this is a Windows OS protected location
with restricted access rights
(admin rights - run as admin to override this)
Instead install games to a folder with full access rights
Check any mods included readme file if any,
as some mods may require content be added to the game Assets
Folder, which should be stated if so in the readme file
Certain mods may include an Assets or Custom folder
indicating where the included folder content is intended for.
For example, because Barmaids or each of the 2 Governor Daughters
for each nation category, use specific DDS texture filenames
you only can install effectively one such mod for each nation category
i.e.
1 French, 1 Spanish, 1 English or 1 Dutch Barmaid
(there is also a Pirate Faction Barmaid)
2 beautiful daughters, 2 attractive Daughters, 2 plain Daughters
for each nation
For say plain French daughters textures
daug_plain_f1.dds
daug_plain_f2.dds
For say plain English daughters textures
daug_plain_e1.dds
daug_plain_e2.dds
and so on
Essentially, avoid duplicating the individual texture filenames
as there can only be one.

I prefer making a mod folder inside of my Assets folder instead of sticking them in customs. Customs is best for flag and sail emblem mods that you can change around while playing the game. If you have a million flags in customs then good luck finding the one you want in a reasonable amount of time. |

@pirate, Good point. I've started placing my mod folders inside the assets folder, too |

This is better way. I want to know that we need to download a mod or it is already exist in the system?
I think if it is already there so it's hidden. |

The game itself is already there but a mod is the reworking and adding things to it by hobbyist or other People who weren’t on the games design team. Just like buying a car then painting it pink and adding Chrome wheels it’s still a car but it’s been modified from the original version that the dealer sold when it was new. |

@ CutePsychologistLibra
You may be confusing official game Service packs
(some may included additional content such as say map levels etc)
or official game DLC expansions available to purchase, with 3rd party mods
the last official Retail Disk Pirate! patch v1.02
(also included in the GOG or Steam Pirates! game release versions)
is more a bug fix pack rather than additional content according to the
service pack release notes
Pirates! patch v1.02 is recommended for Windows 10/11.
3rd party mods typically have to be manually downloaded & installed
and are not included in the game by default.
Mods are often produced by game fans who have no connection
with the Game developers, available for free, as is with no warranty
other than their best efforts.
(See the included mod readme file for further details)
The only official Addon for the SM pirates game is the
Bonus theme Pack
(included on the limited Edition Bonus Disk and later made
available separately)
