Cast: John King, Richard Cromwell, Slim Summerville
The little known sequel to Lewis Milestone's classic war film "All Quiet on the Western Front". Directed by James Whale in 1937, the movie takes place in the immediate aftermath of world war 1 and recounts the frontline soldiers' difficulty in returning to a peacetime society.
This 1937 release was severely altered by Universal from the Director's original cut, bowing to German pressure to remove "anti-German" material (the Nazis had banned Remarque's novel) and padding out the comedic content. It didn't works as the movie got banned in Germany anyway.
