Our Lady of the Rosary
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Our_Lady_of_the_Rosary

The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, formerly known as Feast of Our Lady of Victory and Feast of the Holy Rosary is celebrated on 7 October in the General Roman Calendar.

7 October is the anniversary of the decisive victory of the combined fleet of the Holy League of 1571 under the command of Spain over the Ottoman navy at the Battle of Lepanto.

Pope Pius V instituted the feast of Our Lady of Victory in order to commemorate the victory at Lepanto, which he attributed to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

In 1573, Pope Gregory XIII changed the name of the feast to Feast of the Holy Rosary, to be celebrated on the first Sunday of October.

Pope Pius X in 1913 changed the date back to 7 October.

In history’s annals, a tale is told,
Of a city once mighty, with stories untold.
Constantinople, its name held high,
A jewel of the East, ’neath the Byzantine sky.

Byzantium’s walls, a formidable might,
Guarded the city day and night.
But fate had a plan, a chapter to turn,
As the Ottoman Empire’s fire began to burn.

In fourteen fifty-three, the year it befell,
The siege commenced, a tale to compel.
Mehmed the Conqueror, determined and bold,
Laid siege to the city, relentless and cold.

Months turned to years, the city stood strong,
Yet hunger and desperation did prolong.
The Byzantines fought with valor and pride,
Defending their home, side by side.

But breaches appeared, hope began to wane,
As cannons roared, inflicting great pain.
On that fateful day, twenty-ninth of May,
Constantinople’s fate hung in the fray.

The walls were breached, the city’s heart torn,
As Ottoman forces swarmed, forlorn.
In streets once vibrant, chaos ensued,
The fall of an empire, a somber prelude.

Churches and palaces, treasures untold,
Ransacked and looted, their glories sold.
Yet the spirit of Constantinople still lives,
In tales and memories, its legacy thrives.

The Fall of Constantinople, a moment so grand,
A turning point in history’s hand.
Though the city fell, its spirit endured,
In the hearts of those whose history’s secured.

Let us remember the Byzantine’s plight,
Their valiant struggle, their noble fight.
For in their fall, a legacy’s born,
Constantinople’s spirit forever sworn.

Gather ’round, ye faithful souls,
As a tale of devotion beautifully unfolds.
A celebration grand, a day of grace,
The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary we embrace.

In the tranquil embrace of autumn’s breeze,
A hallowed union of prayer and peace.
We honor Mary, our guiding light,
With hearts uplifted, souls taking flight.

Beads in hand, we embark on a journey,
A rosary’s rhythm, a symphony.
Each prayer a petal, a delicate rose,
Blossoming faith, the love it bestows.

With joyful hearts, we contemplate,
The mysteries divine, in a tranquil state.
The joyful, luminous, sorrowful, and glorious,
Reflections of life, profound and victorious.

On this sacred day, we gather as one,
Under the watchful gaze of Mary, God’s Son.
She intercedes, a mother so kind,
Guiding our prayers, solace we find.

Our Lady of the Rosary, pure and fair,
In your loving arms, we find solace and care.
With devotion unwavering, our spirits soar,
Embracing the graces you lovingly pour.

Through stormy seas or tranquil tides,
In every challenge, where faith resides,
We turn to you, our beacon of light,
Our Lady of the Rosary, shining so bright.

So let us celebrate with joy and cheer,
This sacred feast day, so precious and dear.
In unity and love, our voices raise,
Honoring Mary, with heartfelt praise.

The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary we adore,
In prayerful reverence, forevermore.
Mary, our guide, our refuge, our Queen,
In our hearts, your loving presence is seen.
