I play Pirates using the Steam version and I've noticed that most of the time when I sword fight on a ship my opponent ends up running up the stairs and when I win he falls into the water, but every once in a while. It'll be a different part of the ship where my opponent goes down the stairs and then he ends up in a fire and his arm catches on fire and he jumps overboard and then a third one I see occasionally is where there are no stairs involved at all.
My question is that I get the first sword fight scenario 99.7% of the time. Is there a special part of the ship that I have to hit or where I have to let them hit me in order to get the 2nd and third sword fight scenarios a little more often. Just seems more fun and interesting when you can have different fight scene locations on the ships. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
I believe there's a system to it. I wanna say Spanish captains are often on the smaller sort of width-wise setting with no stairs? May be way off here mind you. Could have to do with ship types
Named Pirates will have paraded down the quarterdeck onto the main deck
to swordfight with the stairs behind them.
The cross deck swordfight on the main deck grating may be more
say against trade merchant captains.
Military Warship captains probably similar to the named pirates at a guess.
You don't have any control on the pre-scripted swordfight start.
Can't recall that this was ever worked out how this was done in the
Game executable content or animation script files
Pointy end of the sword against the enemy and plink him
more times than he gets you, to win.

may be each Captain Fight location is individually scripted
with no control on this
