New member here. Is there a mod or gameplay trick to get rid of annoying captains?
I'm currently doing a longplay on Swash. My pirate is 50 years old and doesn't have fencing skill but sailing skill. The captains are just slightly too hard to beat and I want to get rid of them to access the other half of the tavern. Also, do mods even work on existing save runs?
Sometimes, you can just leave port and re-enter and the captain will disappear, but it seems ports that you haven't been to in a long time will have the captain there no matter how many times you re-enter.
It probably still is doable with grinding. It seems you can just infinitely attack them and don't lose anything (correct me if you do lose something). Longsword and cutlass is too slow at this point, and I can't land attacks even with animation cancel after dodging and full advantage. Rapier still lands easily. And with Rapier, ducks are still quick so I can deal with chops, but jumps are so slow, so dodging sweeps I just cannot do it at a high success rate. I wonder if chops have a quicker tell, or if jumps are really just that much slower.
Even parries are pretty tough with this. I've gotten to one hit away from winning. But one hit away, the captain is just too fast in that position, maybe I just have to guess and hope for the best when I reach that position. I think it could be cool as a challenge to beat it at 50yo, but I'd probably never want to do it again and still want to get rid of captains somehow. Thanks for any responses!  |

You don't have to fight him u got two choices if u confront him. either piss him off or apologize for interrupting. we can turn him into a lady if you like. She fights like a man instead of dying like a dog. |

Never Age - Stay 18 forever (this will lock the year to whatever your start year is.)
Be 18 In Sword Fight - Don't get punished for being old in sword fights. Doesn't lock year.

This is interesting. Can this mod be applied to existing games or do you have to start a new game? Thanks for the suggestions. |

Yeah I just wanted to a way to talk to the barkeeps to access fighting criminals, which you have to beat the captain first for. I know eventually my pirate will be even too old for the criminals, but idk, I just wanted to know if there were alternative tricks to rid the captains.
As an update, I was able to defeat the captain today by guessing on the last hit. A small personal victory which I'm satisfied with |

if using any mods during your savegame gameplay,
need to ensure the mods are also installed when using the trainer |
