I noticed on one of the new screenshots, that there were birds flying around the ship. Not sure if this has been on other screenshots, but I was thinking that these birds could be vultures. These could indicate that you were running out of food and your crew was dying of hunger.
I think this is the url for the picture I'm talking about:

I just think it's funny how the develpor's diaries are released on gamespot/actiontrip gaming sites before they're announced on the official site.
Another theory for the birds could be that you're close to land, or you've got a sufficiently large ship (status symbol), then the birds will appear. Although, the vultures would be good, in the original Pirates I usually failed to stock up on food because I was so hopeless at the game, and I ran out of food and had no idea it was coming. so this sort of warning sign could be useful. _________________ Mutinied to the good ship 'World of Warcraft' |

I noticed those birds too, but I have no idea what they could be.
Good thinking though, sounds meaningful. |

A necessary exchange of back-scratching. In exchange for giving GameSpot "exclusive" rights to the story for a few days, they publicize the story for us through their userbase. That gives them the eyeballs from people going there instead of to our site, and gives us the publicity of exposing the story to the millions of people that visit their site. Then we post the story on the official site within a week or so, so people that miss the GameSpot story still get a chance to read it.
Best,
Jeff Foley

That's a fair enough reason. I thought there was probably a good reason (or lots of good reasons, at a $ each), but I just hadn't thought of what it might be. _________________ Mutinied to the good ship 'World of Warcraft' |

Ahem... excuse this post. It made no sense at all, I posted in the wrong thread somehow. It's supposed to be in the gameplay too fast thread, so now it is. Sorry! _________________ Mutinied to the good ship 'World of Warcraft' |
