Ok, I blundered into this bug when I was attacking a treasure galleon with an escort. I took the escort out first and ditched all my cannons to be able to fit in the treasure (since the escort was carrying more than it should have been able to).

Then I went after the galleon itself and took it out as well. However, when looting the treasure, I noticed that I now had a negative number of cannons!

Another bug that I noticed was that although I ditched all my cannons when I had taken out the escort, I still carried my cannons when I went after the galleon... I think this also applies to the crew that you are supposed to put aboard the first prize (so that the changes only take effect after the whole battle is over).

EDIT: Darn typos...

Good one, almost as good as plundering a negative 32k gold!!

Does this mean that you can sell more canons to get extra space on your ship?

Buggs... Buggs... Buggs... And I'm not refering to the Bunny type either... As a suggestion to Sid when he releases his next game, maybe he should include a can of Bugg spray. Then we could spray our computer with this special can of spray. It wouldn't do anything to fix the bugs in the game, but at least it would make us THINK we were doing something. Something more then the effort he's putting into killing any Buggs via his almost, it's on the way, virtual patch... Sad Thats going to be out any day now... Confused Shocked Mad Rolling Eyes

I think I've reasoned out how this must have happened... It may be a bit confusing...

1) I ditched my cannons to fit in all the treasure that the escort was carrying

2) However, I still had the cannons when I went after the galleon

3) The galleon must have shot at me and caused me to lose one of the cannons (that I did not have, but somehow had nevertheless)

4) When taking the galleon's treasure, the game substracted from me the cannons that I had ditched as well as the virtual nonexisting cannon that had been lost in the second part of the battle.

Does that sound logical?

Yes it does to me I think Confused But the escort and galleon battle happened in the same action I guess? I mean after you ditched the cannons, you immediately went back to the battle screen, not the world map? Anyway it's still a bug I haven't seen yet either.

Maybe we should summon up all the bugs in one post (short and clear explenation per bug, possibly with a screenshot) and send the link to firaxis. I don't know if it would make any difference though, it's just a suggestion to improve the game.

Yes, it was the same action and the bug is thus probably unique to this kind of ship+escort battles.

I'm afraid we may have found so many small and bigger bugs by now that gathering them all together will require some serious work. Sad

I had this happen to me once also, I didn't really pay attention to why it happened. I've had the negative gold bite me too, this happened after sacking a port, maybe one too many times.

i wonder how much damage you can do to a ship if you hit it with -1 cannon.

either you repair it that way, increase their crew or damage your own ship. Razz Laughing

This is just a guess. But I think if you try to shoot at another ship with negative 1 guns. You actually do damage to you own ship!!! Laughing Laughing
