And I thought I had seen it all...

The other night I was in a ship battle; my indian war canoe vs. another indian war canoe; I winged the enemy with round shot which slowed them down enough for me to board them; I sailed the front of my ship into their port side and the damage caused by the crash destroyed the other ship! I got some message about the ship splintering and sinking.

I haven't been able to duplicate this and was wondering if anyone out there has some data on the amount of damage caused by ramming ships? Is it speed or class related?

Perhaps someone else has experienced this?

I will try to put some factual data together if possible; thanks!

That's a new one to me. Usually, when you ram into another ship it causes zero damage. Never heard of it sinking a ship! You must have a very aggressive pilot, tell him the real purpose is to BOARD the enemy ship, not SINK it!
I lost a war canoe that was part of my might armada. It hit some rocks and broke up. Wish I had sold it first!

This happens every time you attack the "escort" war canoe.
The second ship in a battle is always considered the "escort". This ship appears as the lower of the 2 in your opponent list (within the battle).

If you manage to touch ship #2 and it is a native war canoe, it will be sunk.

Ship #1 is fair game. Never managed to sink it (round shot not-withstanding).

might be because war canoes always surrender when you try to board them, but since escorts cant surrender, they just blow themselves up
