Changing Pirate's clothes

I unpacked all the PAK files that come in the game, and I found uniforms for the PC in every nationality, and every rank. For example: dutch_duke, and english_captain, ect...

i was hoping to use these as costumes for my PC, that would change as his rank did, but I could not make it work.

Does anyone know what these uniforms are for? I don't recall any of them showing up in the game.

Those would probably be either the formal uniforms you wear when you enter a city (notice how you dress differently in cities of different nationality?) and change whenever you rank up (You get lots of accessories each time you get rank).

I never noticed the changes. The only time my pirate looks different is in sword fights.

You've never noticed how when you get a rank, the symbol for that rank (appearing on your fame point sheet) is a piece of attire you actually wear on your body? Look at your character in the intro animation when you enter the ballroom (dancing). You'll see he has all the marks of rank you acquired for that particular nation.
And you've never noticed how your suit is a different color and style in different nationality cities?
How odd.

enemy captains also use those i think, when you duel them

My pirate always looks like a bronze skeleton unless he is in a sword duel, then he has the buckskin pants, boots, puffy shirt and/or armour.
